Today was the opener for ducks in the central zone of Illinois. My buddy and I hunted some flooded timber off the Illinois River near Hardin, Illinois. Waded in off the road about a 1/4 mile and found a nice opening in the canopy, where we put out 18 decoys. We had our limits of 3 Wood Ducks apiece in 45 minutes. We saw several flights of Mallards up high, but they didn't seem to want to work.
