well I wouldn't really call it a mod as it's quickly reversible, but the idea is that the nut, screw or bolt catches the seam of your pocket as you pull the knife out, opening the blade and allowing you to easily open and lock the knife when wearing gloves or when your other hand is occupied in doing another task, grabbing something, holding what you need to cut, etc.
PS: The knife is a Tasman and not a Harpy, very similar but with some key differences
Walked in the door to find my pup tangled in the sofa cover - with the tied parts tight around his neck and chest. He could barely move, and was struggling to breathe (not in an immediately life threatening way; but I'm still glad I got home when I did). Needless to say, he was also frightened. I made a brief effort to untie the part around his neck, then made the decision to cut him free.
Just another reason to add to my Reasons I Always Carry A Knife list...
No - I didn't take pictures (though I probably should have, just so the girl could appreciate WHY I chose to cut the sofa cover)
but here he is 10 minutes later, fully recovered from the experience
