Today I’ve got my Spyderco Para 3 in the pocket — still one of my favorites. Also carrying a CRKT Pilar, just in case, and my trusty Victorinox Classic for the small stuff. Nothing fancy, just what works.

I'm keeping the David Mary theme going this week.

I remember those! As you probably recall, your handles are Suretouch, which is G10 layered with rubber so that handle shaping exposes rubber to the surface, resulting in enhanced grip over G10 alone. At the time I made these for you it was my favorite handle material for user knives.

Since then I discovered Grip-Tec™, which is my new favorite. It has little flecks of rubber uniformly suspended in a resin casting, resulting in even more surface rubber. It is lighter than Suretouch, grippier in just about any possible handle shape with the exception of a totally flat Suretouch handle with an entire rubber layer on the surface, and, most importantly to me, noticeably more comfortable than Suretouch for barehanded use.

This is my EDC fixed blade with Grip-Tec™ scales. A Prevex in 3/16” 3V with just over 4” blade. I had 12 blanks waterjet cut on the first run and this is one of them. I still have three blanks left.

You can get you CCW, in most counties in CA now.

Of course a B.A.K. is never bad for backup, especially if it's a David Mary.
