EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Think I’m going to do some work on this Poggetti after work today. It deserves to be hair popping sharp!

As planned- polished up the edge to 2k with the Shaptons. Finished it with 1 micron diamond spray on the Nano-strop.

Took me about 6 years to get through the little spray bottle of diamond emulsion. I’ve got some more coming, along with some new stropping mediums.. can’t wait!

I think I'll be firing up the Jonsered today to cut up some smallish poplar stems that have been lying around our place and a few other lengths up at my son's house in the next town. As I'm still suffering from the Spyd-tember flu, and, as mentioned on these pages yesterday, I'll continue working out of the same one of my three small ;) Spyderco drawers and carry the green Millie briefly shown here yesterday.

I attended a California Distinguished Magnet school from 6th to 12th grade. Every morning, we rose and recited the Pledge of Allegiance in our Homeroom class. Immediately following, we listened to our Principal, Mr. Weinberg, say a few words. He always ended the morning announcement with, “And remember, Character Counts.”

These words echoed into my mind as a growing youth and carried with me into adulthood. Character counts. Now more than ever before these words ring true.

It counts when no one is looking and it counts when all eyes are on you. Character counts when we might be down and out and it counts when the opposite is true too.

On this day, 24 years ago, I witnessed the true strength and character of our nation. I watched people unite and bring hope to each other.

So when tragedy strikes and all hope seems lost - look only to the man in the mirror and remember, that Character Counts.
