I think that it is a stamp made to stamp leather.Forgive my ignorance, I'm no metallurgist. What is the advantage of using titanium to stamp steel? Is it a toughness thing? Or is it easier to work with?

Yup, just for leather...sinceLorien does wet forming I thought Ti would be good purely for corrosion resistance and avoiding staining.
