Great knives, depends on what you want it for. The 3 is compact easy to carry, HEST is the same only thicker more beefy. The 4 is great all around size, 5 is 1/4" thick a brute, 6 is good all around longer blade.

Start with the ESEE-3 and see how you like it. My guess is you will get more depending on the uses you want. The 3 can do most of what you'd need a fix blade to do in the field or around camp.
