Ever been to the Dexter Russell Outlet in Southbridge, MA?

This is my take on a Deweese Hunter pattern, using a Russell blank and some Buffalo horn scales. It's a poorly polished turd, but darn if it doesn't cut like a laser. I think of it as America's fixed blade Opinel.

A selection of my Dexter-Russell knives. Second from left is the 4215 Fish Knife. With a 5” Kabar sheath it makes a very nice companion knife, one of my favorite blades. The handle is a little short, but very comfortable after a little sanding and some torch work.
At the far right is the Dadley, thought to be a Kephart precursor.
A Sani-Safe paring knife is one of my most-used kitchen knives, although it has temporarily gone missing in the clutter
.

So, you mean to tell me you walked past all those bins full of US made goodness and didn't ask around to see of we wanted any!? Fine, but care to elaborate on some of the newer models? That last pic is intriguing.
Hahaha next time I’ll post for requests. I asked about those knives in the case- seemed like 50 bucks was reasonable. Evidently those are discontinued. If I end up with a spare 50 I’m going back to have a look.

No factory tour? Just retail with some historical stuff? How were the prices? Was it worth going?

Thanks
I didn’t ask for a factory tour or anything because we had somewhere to be. They also had factory seconds. I got 7 knives for like 35 bucks. The prices were about what you’d expect, maybe a Buck or two cheaper than I’ve seen online.

The green river tactical - the knives pictured in the case- look really good for outdoors use. I’m kind of surprised they are already discontinued, I don’t think they’ve been out long. I might have to look into picking one up before they disappear!

When did they first come out?

Well it seems I lied to you, upon further study it appears that the first YouTube videos reviewing them came out in 2018. I swear I saw a much more recent post announcing the release. But for me they certainly flew under the radar.

Yeah, I was talking to the cashier excitedly asking about them, as if it was something new I was stumbling on to. I didn’t feel like much of a Knife guy after he told me they were discontinued.

snapped a quick picture before leaving for work today.
The 10" chef's knife will go to my mother and one of those two identical rubber knives is going to go to a friend of mine.
All 6 knives bought for about 25 bucks, and all were factory seconds except for the red paring knife and the sheath knife (which, so far, I really love).

I had never seen them either. They look very handy.

I guess they flew under everyones radar. Too bad. They look nice.

I get the impression that marketing isn't Dexter Russell's strong point.
It's too bad- I really like their products. Inexpensive quality American cutlery just isn't common.

My wife cut meat for 20 years, DR knives were the only knives in the shop. We've got a bunch of them from a monster 'halibut knife' (that's what my wife called it as they used one to break down halibut), to the little paring knives. Lots of boning knives and a big pizza slicer. We also have some higher end Henckles, Wusthof and Shuns, the DR's hold they're own very well.

I kept a box full of DR knives on my boats. I lost a few expensive knives overboard due to careless friends, DR solved my problem. When I sold my last boat the box went to someone buying a bunch of tackle from me, bet they're still in use.
