Ever conceal a large knife?

I fairly often carry a Busse Steel Heart E concealed inside my waistband. I do a lot of walking in a semi-rural area around my mother's home, just woodsy enough to want to have the knife to play with and just populated enough that I don't want to alarm anyone. Being 6'8", 260 pounds helps with the concealment.

Why has nobody mentioned the Merc Harness?

I was just about to, actually. I have carried a CS SRK inverted in a Merc Harness openly (i.e. not under a jacket or coat) and not had anyone notice that I had it there! Works great on anything that weight and below. Much more and the cord would start biting, though a little under-arm padding works wonders.

I have a cold steel tanto that i have concealed IWB in my own homemade kydex sheath and in a shoulder rig. I have never carried something like this in public because it is illegal, but it is nice to know that if i ever needed to i could.
Hi

I noticed that you posted this back in 2001 and you mentioned that you use a homemade sheath and shoulder harness. Well that's exactly what I am looking for - advice on making those! I just bought a German military knife that I want to carry on me (it is legal in South Africa), but the sheath provided won't do the trick. Have a look at the knife (if you don't mind) and please let me know if you have advice:

thanks

biggest I've gone was hunting/oudoors knife just with a blade just a tad over 4 inches (depending on how you measure it).
a scout leader (there because of something to do with the district, not one of our leaders) told me he didn't want to see it again, so I was happy (ish) to oblige. and shoved the belt sheath in my waistband, under my jacket.

not something I would do regualy, it was uncomfortable, and I've since learned that ignoring such jumped up prats works just as well.

Yes. I like big knives. Here is what I'm carrying today. My Swamp Rat M9LE, in a kydex IWB sheath, at about 4:00. I don't like the clip too much... I think I'm going to remove it and go with a loop.
