It’s a nice little knife. I was surprised how light it is. Also how well it opens. it actually flips like it an auto. Would be a great shorts knife. it’s not for me but it’s a nice knife. Ill offer it to my daughter and if she passes ( she never passes) Ill toss it on th exchange to let someone else give it a go.

All in all I get the buzz. Nice small knife, Im just a CRK guy.

That's cool. They seem like nice knives. Just wish they made a thumbstud version.

I just got my first CRK so I think I get it now.

That's one brand I've yet to try out. Seems like you're a pretty big fan ! Which one would you recommend?

They're basically the same knife but for 1/2" or so in blade length - the Atom seems to be a good size if you like 3.5" vs Neutron 2 which is 3" in size. They both work for me, but I gravitate towards 3.2 to 3.5" blades lately. The extra weight of the 3.5" helps it flick out faster, but it's not really an issue with the smaller model, so go for whatever size you want. It feels more solid with the Ti scales, but the micarta is lighter for easier carry in light pants or jacket.

This Artisan Cutlery Ahab came in today from Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley , as we've been doing a few unofficial random gift swaps with each other over the past year (not planned, just somehow happens after some discussions about knives, needing a lanyard, or a watch repair, etc).

The Ahab is better in person than in pictures. If I hadn't handled this myself, I might not have ever bought one. It feels thinner in my back pocket than many other knives, but still offers a full grip when holding it. It has a very sharp and thin blade with slick action that flys open very fast with thumb flick or reverse flick. I don't even mind it missing a sharpening choil or jimping on the back of the blade.

I love the goofy whale bead on the lanyard, which tucks in nicely should I choose to carry it in a back pocket without it dangling out where it's easy to snag (or for someone to snatch). But it's thin enough to hide in my hidden front pocket and fish it out by the lanyard, if I don't want to carry my small Sebenza 31 in it's usual spot there (I definitely need to reinstall the Sebenza Lanyard).

I picked up a couple of knives on the exchange from Davidsh331 Davidsh331 that just came in yesterday - An American Blade Works Model 1 V5 (V6 is current model) from about 6 years ago, but in great shape with S35VN steel and patina'd OD micarta.

I also got from him a Steel Will Modus upgraded Italian model with M390 steel and OD green G10.

Glad it got to you safely and while it may look goofy, I found it charming myself ;) and not one that is readily available and suited a knife that is named Ahab, just seemed to fit, to me at least.

And the lack of a sharpening notch I feel is a plus as I find those to catch on material when you try to cut something, so having the edge almost to the handle provides a lot of cutting edge and it is a cutter for sure, I hope you can carry that one a while.

Sorry, my definition of Goofy is Charming. Sorry about the miscommunication 😂 I really do like it. And you have a good point about the chill choil (good point, get it, well no point but sharp? LOL). PS: I hate autocorrupt - fixed it

Wow. A lot of great acquisitions since the last time I was on the site. I have been on a purchasing hiatus the last few months but I couldn’t pass up this Pena X Series Swayback in carbon. My 5th X Series. Still like the Lanny’s Clip the most. Great little gent’s knives.
Will most likely be keeping an eye out for a good deal on the Texas Trapper and Large Swayback.

Nice! The worst thing about them for me is that I have to hold my hand palm down in a cat's paw grip to get the top flipper to work, but the best thing is how solid and well made they feel that makes up for it. I can't even imagine what a custom would feel like.

I have only 2 Peña - A top flipper Barlow in M390 clip point and Ti with carbon fiber covers, and a kickstop flipper with M390 sheepsfoot and Ti with brown micarta. But they're very nice - I wont repost since not new, but the kickstop was posted here within the last week or two.

Thanks Doc I have large old man hands and flick them like a Bic lighter. I have quite a few larger knives but most of the time I carry one of these Peñas unless I know there may be an opportunity to abuse a knife. I also carry a Bradford Guardian or a Rainier Basecamp for “quick deployment.
