I challenge anyone’s fixed blade up against my cold steel 4max. The difference isn’t so great as some believe.
A bridge too far !

4Max vs 3V Warcraft , I'd have to bet on the latter . And the Warcraft probably ain't near the toughest fixed out there .

But the 4Max would surely beat many fixed not meant for hard use .

I think you underestimate the 4max. It is designed to be tougher than many fixed blades.

Those commenting related to the OP (Extreme "Hard Use" Folder vs Fixed for same purposes)

Suggestion:
Let's see some video roll of Extreme Hard Use folder action for some perspective ;-)

You really think it would be even close, if we put any folder up against a full tang fixed blade of the same dimensions?

Ah ah ah! Fixed blades aren’t all “full tang” ;)

Let’s start with a rat tail tang and take things from there.

Easy decision. I carry a 3.3" fixed cross-draw, concealed by shirt, and a 3.5" folder clipped in rh front pocket.
When I need a knife quickly, I always pull the fixed.

Here’s one.

Ahh the Fatman (with respect, Lynn is no Sloth). I can remember when you had to order these videos on VHS if ya wanted to watch them.

So, you are suggesting comparing the Espada Series with a Cold Steel Tri-Ad Lock to a fixed ...
1) In my experiences over the years that lock will not stand up to repeated cross-cut and/or with grain batoning like a fixed will.
2) I have watched Lynn videos of "Hard Use" including throwing of Ti-Lites where they show, then exclaim survival. As much as I like and own many Ti-Lites, they do get sloppy real quick in real life :-/

I was really hoping individuals might post their own examples of "Hard Use" applications with a folder ... ?? vs. posting marketing hype like this.

What’s the difference between “marketing hype” videos and individuals? Still shows the capabilities. Sorry, it’s 9pm here and below freezing. I’m not going to run outside with my 4max and baton it through a tree tonight… but I assure you the 4max can handle anything anyone can dish out. In fact, the only failure risk is if the screw for the pivot happens to come out… and loctite will take care of that.

We think similar ...
I always love the look on their face (when a friend makes a feint aka false attack in effort to see how you draw your folder with obviously exposed pocket-clip - the honey-pot), as they wait/expect your dominant hand to move towards your dominant front pocket and you draw your concealed fixed with off-hand making half-step backwards. Unexpectedly, and all of a sudden a fixed has entered the playground, and they completely miss even seeing it drawn, and also miss the second draw of the folder ... That look on the face of utter defeat ;-)

"What's the difference"
Personal experience vs parroting.

Do you always tend to believe "marketing hype" ... ? OMG
My comment #2 above was but one example of my personal experience illustrating "marketing hype" is many times a lie, and most times misleading.

This keeps coming up , even though it's been done to death , still seems to be lots of hate and prejudice against folders for this use .
I'd like to hear some, nice and polite , logical discussion to explain WHY ? .
If that's possible here ?
Hard use is hard to define. Extreme hard use maybe not so hard to define? I would think bushcraft would be pretty extreme hard use. People do some of that with a fixed blade and there are recommendations for how to do it in the safest way. It can be done but wouldn't a fixed blade be stronger meaning more reliable? I think in this situation it isn't so much a matter of breaking the pivot as it is a question of breaking the lock itself.

To be fair , no more than gravitate towards fixed blades exclusively .

I personally feel like there's plenty of room in the world for both .

Why can't we all just get along ? ;)
I agree, but since my post, this thread has taken a turn that I think proves my point about extreme statements.

Pretty sure watching a video of a knife slamming through a pigs skull is real enough. Do you doubt that CS knives are actually cutting through pig carcasses in their marketing videos?

Have you seen the strength test videos of demko locks? You could hammer the knife in a tree and stand on the handle with 3 grown men and it won’t break.
