Favorite fixed blade fighter?

Even though I consider mine utility knives, the Busse 6 inch and the 8 inch Pure Bred Fighters fit the bill. They're fast and well balanced, pointy and edgy, with a comfortable and secure grip, and with a solid double guard.

For small knives I like things along the lines of a La Griffe. For mid sized knives it's hard to beat a good
5-7 inch dagger or bowie. For anything larger than that a nice big machete is always a fine choice.:)

As usual Haze pretty much sums up my feelings on a subject.
My La Griffe is resting on my chest.
I just obtained an Emerson Fixed Bowie that has a truly beautiful blade with a wicked point. Perfect balance.
And, if Ernest made a machete, there'd be one near by!
I'd love to have one of the fixed Persians Emerson made before the folder became available.

Well that was interesting! I bought a Cold Steel Warhead, purely for the intemidation factor. All of a sudden, I'm not sure it has any! Especially compared to a few I've just seen.

But, all said and done, I'll never forget an E&A instructor I had during the unpleasantness in SE Asia. We had just spent an entire day learning how to use a knife on an opponent. Some cub scout asks him, " What do you rely on in a knife fight?" The guy didn't miss a beat, "A .45." Worked for me.

For customs it is hard to beat a Fighting Bowie from the king of the fighting Bowie Bill Bagwell

Shiva Ki's Fighting Bowie's also are a standout

Jason Knight's fighters have a well earned reputation

For prouduction stuff one blast from the past is the AL Mar Warrior

That subhilt loveless with the tapered tang would feel pretty good in the hands.

I'm slowly being attracted to the Al Mar and Spyderco Warrior blade. I imagine it is more deadly with the backedge than the front :)

My edc, swamp rat bandicoot, small and fast in the hand

A "little bigger" swamp rat battle rat and HI tamang...big, fast and nasty!

That Al Mar warrior is definitely a combat blade. And it goes a step above most others with its purely combative blade design.

This is a double hilt with a sub-hilt usually referred to simply as a sub-hilt fighter. This knife photographed, by Coop, is a "Big Bear" 8-1/2 inch knife made by the original designer Bob Loveless. Note the hand crafted workmanship like the tapered tang. Folks say they can pick out a Loveless knife with their eyes closed just by the balanced feel.

Superb! I'll never be able to afford one. But Dietmar Kressler makes a wonderful subhilt fighter based on the Big Bear design. He and Boker are collaborating to release an integral subhilt with a tapered tang that I CAN afford. The knife is featured in the 2010 Boker catalog. It's due to be released in May. Here's a pic.

And here's the info on the Kressler Fighter from the Boker USA site:

Here's my Bark River STS-5. Seems to be a pretty beefy knife at .270" thick, 154cm. Haven't taken it out and played with it yet. They are in the process of making a larger model of this knife. Just thought I'd show a picture. Hope you guys don't mind.

Can't get much more authentic than the USMC fixed blade (mine is a Camillus, but they're usually referred to as "Ka-Bar" knives), or the Phrobis M9, or a historic khukri...

I'm a vet, and I always carried a nice cold steel push dagger inverted on my harness, something easy to get at & all business. Above is the current set-up for my brother. He's part of a army rapid response force, and is getting set to deploy again for the third time. He didn't want a blade larger than 4", and it had to be easy to draw, molle secured & def no velcro. The ESEE RC-3MIL fit that bill.

My current edc fighter is a David Farmer custom. It's razor sharp, and for around 100 bucks a great deal. I traded a tops stryker for this, and never once regretted my decision.
