Favorite rough rider?

Only got two myself. First one’s not actually a knife. It’s a “dog groomer” or something like that, it’s got a caplifter and a comb. I bought it to use as a beard comb, lol. Works well.
The other I guess is my fav, it’s a trapper with battle axe shield. I dyed the “white” bone scales brown and turned the spey into one arm open. It is well made and ultra smooth opening and closing. There are a few gaps and blade rap so I added a couple rubber strips in the wells. It’s a bit large to carry often but I really like the shield and that’s why I got it.

I posted my favorite Rough Rider (a Sowbelly) on page one of this thread but this RR 521 Large Stockman with Saw Cut, Brown Bone, covers is my second favorite Rough Rider. It too has 440A stainless blades.

My favorite Rough Rider slipjoint?
Good Golly Gee Willikers and Dad's Gum! That's a hard one to answer! Kinda like "Which one of yours is your favorite child?"...

I know of the four or five Marlin Spikes I have, my Yella handle Rough Rider is my favorite of that pattern ... (and is the only Rough Rider I have of that pattern.)
I like all my Rough Rider Canoes the same one from the 'tuther ...
Large stockman I only have three, the StoneWorx goes to church with me, but the Yella handle or 'Luck 'O The Irish' goes with me to work ...
I love both my Smooth Tobacco Bone and 'Zombie Nick' large Sunfish ... I'd have to flip a coin to pick between them ...
Half Hawk, Large Coke Bottle, and Barlows all see pocket tyme, too ...

If pressed, I guess I'd have to say "My favorite Rough Rider that I have is all of them?"

Great example that Jeff but I prefer the bone version I have, reason being that all my RR Old Yellow knives have developed a centre pin crack in the delrin pretty quickly....:( It's a great smaller sized knife though and kudos to them for making it.

Thanks, Will

dig'n that eureka stockman. interesting!

I've gotten a few RR's... a single blade doctors knife that had terrible fit and finish. and a tobacco bone improved muskrat that had terrible fit and finish. So i stopped there. But that eureka stockman may be the charmer.

Yeah, it’s amazing how attached we can be to our first knives of any brand. It’s something non-knife people just don’t get. An affordable rough rider can be far more loved than more expensive knives. Each knife has a memory behind its acquisition.
We do become attached to our first or early knives, especially if we chose and paid for them ourselves. Non-knife people get attached to other stuff. Attachment I think comes with use. After you get older and have the funds, the attachment becomes less for the newer stuff simply because you know you can pretty much buy most any knife you want if it is available. I was quite attached to my first Case barlow, but not so attached to a very tiny Imperial I purchased at the 5&10 many years ago. Those stores have disappeared as America has changed their shopping habits.

I might add that I was attached to the Case Barlow because I purchased it with my own money as a pre-teen and I would have had a great deal of trouble replacing it for whatever reason. It did get replaced when I got older.

Just picked up two new RR's yesterday at the store.

I have carried one of their large work knives (essentially a lockback Sodbuster) for several years now because I wanted a cheap beater for work and it has really surprised me how well it has held up. It needs a belt sheath because it's a little too large to carry in a jeans pocket. It's nice enough I have had guys try to walk off with it numerous times. It has a backspring from hell in it but I actually like that. Sounds like a bear trap when you close it. CLACK!!! I also have one of their razor Trappers and the razor blade takes an edge that is sharp enough to actually shave with.
