Does anyone have any information about a model BT01 Extreme Survival knife made for FBI Bomb Technicians?

The Extreme Survival knife was developed by Schrade in conjunction with state, local, and federal "bomb tech" specialists after the New York World Trade Center bombing. Schrade produced Bomb Tech knives for both the FBI and other technicians, neither as a limited edition offering. The Bomb Tech version is not available for retail. However, we have a similar model still available, the BTO1.

Where can we see a pic of this knife? What are the differences between the one you can buy and the one we cant buy?
Thanks!
Matt

Are we talking about the civilian model Extreme Survival? The one with the claw shape nail extractor at the butt? I found that somewhat novel.

I looked on your site and with several distributors but couldn't find the Extreme Survival BT01 listed anywhere. Who carries them? Could you post a pic & info.

There is an article review by Steve Dick in Jan 97 issue of Tactical Knives magazine.

Just a note here. That Extreme Survival bears some resemblance to the Imperial Navy non magnetic dive knife from 62'. Was this the basis in design for the "FBI" or the civilian model?

What is the current value of the civilian version. I recall they last retailed for $150. Is it still in production? Any idea Tim?

The difference in the Bomb Tech knife is that it has a blunt tip for prying or probing, and also has the Bomb Tech logo on the blade and sheath. FBI Bomb Technicians were very specific about the features they wanted in this knife and guided us accordingly.

We will be discontinuing the BTO1 this year, and it is not too widely distributed and could therefore be hard to find. Our best recommendation would be to try Smoky Mountain Knifeworks.

I recall reading or hearing about the blade steel being forged stainless. Is this true Tim? Please confirm. If not, what exactly is the blade steel? Thanks.

Replying to Nakano 2: It's absolutely true - the blade steel is forged stainless.
