Fighter in African Blackwood

Beautiful work, the finish on both the handle and blade are exceptional, could you describe, each?

Thanks
Mark Behnke

Mark,

The blade is hand sanded to 600 grit, then etched in ferric chloride and rubbed using a metal polish. The wood is sanded, light layer of cyanoacrylate glue to fill the pores, sanded down to wood again (800 gr) and buffed with white compound.

That is a nice piece of blackwood! I am biased though as I polished it for blade :) the handle shape really shows off the wood grain.

It is cool stuff :) I stashed a nice piece to save for my js test someday :) I think it might even be that pieces brother.

Jon, it must be tough not stashing tons of stuff, with all the good wood y'all see.

Billy, Thanks. Are you going to the A G Russell show?

It is hard to not horde it all. Jessica tells me all the time that I can't keep them all no matter how much I bother her. It is awesome though being able to pick out everything in person. Funny thing is though I usually just let Jessica pick out the wood for me :)
