Final edge continued

Congrats on that last one, I didn't say it's not possible, i just think it's not easy, especially if OP still doesn't grasp if he is grinding towards the edge or spine..

For such thin stock and low angle your blank and your platen will be need to be really flat and you skills will need to be really up to level to have really nice results.
It is easy with jig Fredy , too easy . You only have to know what you are doing and why you are doing that . And where you apply pressure on the jig . OP need to understand his jig and how much angle change when he turn that adjusting bolts . . .... and to forget angles . Jig will tell him what he need to do

So … when you are grinding, where you apply pressure has a big effect on where metal is removed, even with a jig setting the angle. Press more toward the spine, and you will remove metal there and not at the edge. Press more toward the edge and you will remove metal there and not so much toward the spine. Either way this will produce a “rounded” ( convex) bevel, not a flat one. At a given angle on your jig, you should strive for a *flat* surface from the edge to the spineward-most extent of the cut before you move on the the next angle on the jig (hold a flat surface like the edge of a precision metal scale against the bevel to see this). As you draw the blade across the belt apply pressure where you need to to ultimately achieve a flat. Only then go to the next angle setting on the jig.

right now I would guess that you are pressing mostly near the spine, making it *look* like you are cutting the bevel back towards the spine, but in reality you are not cutting near the edge, so your TBE continues to be way too thick

Does this mean that with freehand anyone can get better results ? I doubt ........................ ;)

Anyone can? Probably not. Someone can? Probably.
Better results free hand? Maybe.
Different results? Probably.
Maybe ? Call me when you get this finish with 40 grit ceramic on 5mm M2 hardened steel ...freehand :) Never , not even then my friend :)

There is no point in arguing about what is better, freehand or jig. No one will ask how you made knife. I've tried both ways. It's easier with a jig for me , grinding is faster ,belts last longer, I get a much better finish , fewer mistakes. . . . . Also jig works as a heat sink so I can grind longer and I have never overheated blade I'm working on...well...it happens once in a while but very, very rarely... 🤣 That's enough reason for me to use it.
If someone wants and can, they can grind steel with their thoughts.

Fortunately, there are all kinds of knife enthusiasts, and all kinds of makers!

(I DO want to know the details of how My knife gets made)

Some people Do care about HOW and WHO, and WHERE their knives are made
Maybe a Perfect knife is wanted?
Maybe a Handmade knife is wanted?
Maybe a Cheap knife is wanted?

There are meanings and definitions that probably blur the lines in the knife world.

Want a Perfect knife, made by whomever......? Buy a cnc made knife.
Want a Handmade knife (whatever That means) Buy that.
Want a Cheaper knife...? You know where to look, Heck, sometimes you can even buy a cheaper, perfect, cnc knife made There too.

It's good that we have choices.

It's not the right place for this conversation, but I'll answer you ... the only important thing is the name on the the knife , not how it was made :) That is reality, you can make a perfect knife ............ but if you don't have a *name* ;)

What name do you put on your knives, do you have any pictures of your knives with a name on them?

years ago, while Les Robertson was still a member of BF, he would often talk about 'market position'. Interesting concept, and something I've taken to heart with my own work.

I'll go, and look him and that term up.... Thank You.

I don t believe that you missed my point ? If you don t have *name* in the knife world was my point .
I have *name* for my knives which I will make and try to sell when I retire 🤣 Took me long time to come up with it. It connects my country, its history and me . MA- KE is Macedonia, in same time KE is connected with me and in the middle is sun with sixteen rays, symbol of Macedonia from the beginning of time .
For now, my *name* as knife maker is known in the street where my parents live 🤣
