I want to cast my own knife scales with fish patterns. Any recommendations?

What knife? What material do you want the handles made out of?
Casting something from an original idea is not a simple task. First it requires that you create a mold from scratch. Casting with resin is the easiest route, depending on the resin (some require melting first), but casting with any type of metal that would be desirable for knife handles (like aluminum) is going to be a lot more difficult.
I can understand wanting to do something yourself, but if you're interested in aluminum or titanium handles have you considered enlisting an engraver to create a fish scale pattern on existing handles?
I used to cast items in my youth. Skull pommels for fixed-blades, and various skull pins for sale. I used melted solder (not suitable for knife handles).
