Fishing, and hunting reports (share yours)

I’ve really been slacking on my spring and summer fishing for a while now since ice fishing has been more fun but damn, never even got the sled and hut down from the rafters this year. The winter sucked for making ice and then keeping it when it did get cold enough. Too many warmups every 4-8 days and rain. Your pics and a few others from locals are making me want to get out there soon and I do have a weekend trout derby planned in a couple weeks so that’s getting me excited as well.

I do not like throwing spinners into branches while navigating the streams and brush, that’s always one thing I hate about spring trout fishing!

Wow - I really miss crappie and bluegill. Looking at your haul, I know you had a fun day.

My report is not so great - a native Texan, two weeks ago I finally got around to trying fishing off the Washington coast. Got nothing. BUT...I have a few great trout knives, just in case, and my 2023 WA state fishing license arrived today! I look forward to posting photos of salmon, steelhead and maybe even a ling cod.
It was a great day, especially for just an hour or so of fishing! Going back this weekend to try and catch our limit, and fill our freezer with Crappie filets!

Local lakes iced out about 10 days ago. Got on the water last weekend and fought the wind, caught a few smaller (~17") Eyes, unfortunately nothing big enough to keep though (18"+). Wish we had somewhere locally (or even inside an hour away) to get Craps like in the photos above.

Had a GREAT Memorial Day holiday weekend in Wyoming! Fishing was good... :)

Around the beginning of March, I was fortunate enough to go on a bucket list hunt for red stag in New Zealand. Belated honeymoon trip.

I actually used my SDFK to process the animal. What a great knife! View attachment 2225607
Congrats on a successful hunt and such an awesome bucket list trip! How was the SDFK for field dressing/butchering?
