Fixed blades

I like the mod you did the reduce the guard and the spine around the Spydie hole. I've thought about doing something similar and now I may just have to do that since it's a 'thing' apparentlly and I'm not the only one thinking it lol. Did you do this yourself?
It came modded from the guy I bought it from. The thumb ramp, as well as the butt of the handle, had been eased a bit to make it more comfortable. Since I have plenty of blades in that size range, it doesn't get used and I can't vouch for the comfort in use. It does feel good in hand during fondling sessions though. 👍

That's what she said.

I just counted the options on the knife, It has five and that is the maximum on a Randall these days. So, it can still be ordered.

Options:
1-Stainless Steel
2-Brass Luged Hilt
3-Micarta Handle
4-Scalloped Brass Collar
5-Flanged Scalloped Brass Butt Cap
Beautiful knife. About $415 in options at today’s prices.

Mega post…because I’m working nights and the alternative is digging out from yesterday’s blizzard.

I’m not much of a fixed blade guy, but seem to have acquired a few over the last several years.

Here they are, with a few brief thoughts on each.

Guardian 3. After carrying it for a while, I found out it was illegal to conceal a fix blade where I used to live. Unfortunately, that kind of defeated the purpose! It’s 3V, mostly because I wanted something different than S35VN, which was the only alternative at the time.

LionSteel M4. Probably my most used fix blade, mostly for outdoor camping/backpacking/light bushcrafty stuff. The blade is gorgeous. There are unfortunate gaps between the olive wood and the tang.

Half Face Crow Jr. This was a surprise gift from my best friend. He knows someone in the shop. It’s a simple design that’s impeccably executed. It’s a bit burly for my outdoor adventures (I tend to lean light due to age and arthritis), so I haven’t used it yet. The factory edge is astonishingly sharp.

Spyderco Bradly Junction. I’ve used this knife a lot. I appreciate the thin blade stock and lightweight. If it were a bit more ergonomic, it would be perfection for my uses. This was my first non-stainless knife. I was forced to put it away wet while backpacking in a rainstorm. The next morning, it had lots of superficial rust, which cleaned off pretty easily once I got home.

Bradley Bowie. Yummy. The first time I took it on a backcountry trip, I left it on top of my car, forgot about it, and drove off. I realized what I had done over my neighborhood, speed bump, and hearing thunk thunk thunk. It got pretty banged up, but cleaned up well. If anyone can instantly turn a new knife into a user, I’m that guy.

CR Inyoni. Another simple, but impeccably executed knife. It only a few weeks old and has seen hard use at 5-Guys.

Toor Avalon. I’ve only used this once, and it’ll definitely fillet a fish better than the Junction! Still, towards the handle it’s a bit thick for its intended purpose. I anticipate it seeing lots of use this summer.

Spyderco Darn Dao: because why not?

Highly recommend it, small yet the handle is not wimpy so you have good control and the blade is pretty nice for EDC. My one wish was that the blade was like what they are offering now, this one has a sharpening choil which I do not much care for, on their website they show the blades there without any sharpening choil, nicer in my opinion ;)
