Fixed blades

Man, I must be in the minority. I had a bunch of 5” blades and sold em all off. All I have left are 3”-4” and 6”+. 5” seems to be right in a midrange grey area for me.

If I need something small for the day I pack a small blade. If I go bigger than that, might as well go BIG.

Basically, if I’m gonna bother with 5”, might as well go 6”+.
I tend to do much the same. Mostly carry 3.25" to maybe 4.5" fixies and if I go any bigger it's on to the 6.5" HDFK or up to the big boys 8" plus.

Good ol'e 119 ....

Thanks ! Note the different grind than the normal 119.

I Did look at the grinds.....but Idk anything about Bucks?
The only one I have is my father's little broken pocket knife I Took after his death.
He taught me how to clean bluegills with that knife in the 70's.
I cleaned it up some, now it's Mine.

I always wanted a 120
Yours.....I was wondering if they make a flat grind? I'd think about buying one and turning it convex.

How is the handle for you?

For the 3V version, they basically flattened the tip (and added a swedge), less Persian than in the normal 119.

Not a Buck expert myself, don’t think there are flat grinds in that size other than special editions; there was a BOTM flat in 2022 sometime I believe.

The handle itself is good, the guard so-so, just very big so you can’t cut on a board, for instance.

Buck custom shop is probably the best way to get a 119 with a flat grind at the moment.

This one just came in 15 minutes ago. I never had one before. I got it for a steal. Nice hefty knife. Even grinds all around & sharp. I love the nubby rubber grips on a lot of CS fixed blades.

Great knives. I blame Carbon V recon tantos for my lifelong love for durable knives. I’ve got a recon Tanto that lives on a static cord under my filthy car seat 😂

I keep saying I'm done sculpting the handle.
I'm a liar.
I've been called Worse.....Ha!

Now..... I think I'm ready for clean up, and sharpening.

Took my new Hellrazor out to raze a little hell. Or, do some bushwhackin’ I guess. I remember why I like these so much. They’re a monster of a compact chopper.

One last glamour shot…

Looks better already, and I’m digging the coating. It’s a bright, sparkly green in direct sunlight and the micarta shows as a definite dark green. The scuffs just flatten the coating and make it look darker in spots. Love the character.

I’m not gonna strip it… yet. Hell, I might not strip it ever.
