Anyone have any thoughts on what Buck Knives was thinking when they put this #810 Knife out? Perhaps a pruning knife for Redwood Trees? Whatever the intended purpose, it is certainly an aggressive looking knife.

Great knife, Lyle!! It looks like the mating of a Farmer's Jack and a Texas Jack!! Another guy (Bonfire Bob) I wish I had met before he went over to the other side!A unique Colonial 3 thick,4 blade with pruner.
Customized by Robert A. Paolantonio, Colonial Knife Company, past owner and third generation cutler. RIP
He was Bonfire Bob on AAPK and his grandfather and great uncles came from Italy to work for Empire Knife Co.Colonial Knife Company had roots in Empire.

Each one has its own compelling beauty, Charlie !!! The Koller is smashing and the ring is outstanding !!! What a treat to view and study ! Thank youMore horticultural knives!
Happy Thursday to all those who Heart Horts!!
I am moving these all to a larger Cigar box as they turn up in my re-organization!
An interesting quartet: Top is a left-handed Hugo Koller (mitt umlaut) from Solingen. Note the folding spud. Ya gotta hand it to a company that makes a southpaw option on a nicely-made knife!
Second is a nicely aged I*XL.
Third is a modern-day A.Wright Peach Pruner with great Horn handles.
Last but not least, a Southern & Richardson B&G with an integral spud on the back of the main blade. Please enjoy!!View attachment 1009544
The ring is either Cerillos Turquoise, or Chrysocolla; the jury is still out. . . . . . .more to come.

Very well could be. One would think an aseptic hortman would diligently prevent such an occurrence.I was thinking about the color of the Ivory Spud on the I*XL. I wonder if it has been "dyed" from the sap encountered as the bark is "teased" out to accept a bud?

Beautiful Stag Knife and Bling my friend .It's great that you got to meet A.G. before he passed away, JODY!!
Here is an interesting horticultural knife. It has an unusual assortment of blades, including a folding spud!! Nice stag handles, and the blades are stamped with a "crown over a heart", so probably from England?!?!

Hmmmm . . . . .Ivory is mysterious stuff. Maybe it is dead bacterial cells that color it.Very well could be. One would think an aseptic hortman would diligently prevent such an occurrence.
That's the truth of it, Dave!!It simply boggles the mind Charlie!!
I'm thinkin even the cigar box collector would want to keep tabs on YOU!!
Thank You for sharing ALL these beauties! I'd bet even some that you haven't seen in a while are included.
