Forums migrated, software updates, some features disabled

I’ll chime in again, while I realize it’s out of the owners hands and that we are waiting on a 3rd party,

3. 6-12 months
4. 1-2 years
5. Go pound sand

Also, I joined this forum because I like discussing/learning all things knives AND to buy/sell/trade with other enthusiasts. Feedback is a tremendous help when deciding who to engage with.

I check the feedback developer's page every day or so. Thus far they've released a 'not for production' update that they are absolutely recommending nobody put into live operations. Until they push an update, we're waiting on them - it's out of my hands.

Are Messages system messed up also? I cant seem to find the folders I had or sent messages? I was trying to see if any of the admins or mods received my message?

There were changes to the "Private conversations", now called "Direct Messaging".
There is now a simple listing of all DMs you have started or responded to.
A few members have reported issues, most of us have not had any problems.

If you have a technical issue, it's usually more fruitful to start a thread here in the Tech Support Forum than to message an individual moderator. if you just message a moderator, then you are stuck waiting for that mod to be on line in order to get a response. If you start a thread, any mod can answer; plus other members can answer. Some of the members know more about the software than the mods do.

I have not received a message from you. Make certain you are not over your limit.

It is not a non sequitur at all, and I will help you understand it. The two friends are like Bladeforums members who paid for a membership. Both got everything that the membership is advertised to include. Nobody promised the two friends they would live to be 60, 70, or 120 years old, even though some people do live that long. Bladeforums memberships are not advertised to include a feedback system, even though for a time the memberships were able to enjoy such a feature. In other words, Mister Dan was making an analogy to distinguish between expectations and guarantees. In this case, some members have failed to make this distinction and manifested a sense of entitlement to something they are not strictly owed. Just like the two friends hit by the train were not owed any given length of years on earth.

I already posted the link to the software developer's page, which I found by a simple web search. Anybody can find it and see their updates, they don't have to ask here.

"Xenforo Trader Feedback". That is literally all you have to search and you will find it easily.

I also know that the last public post the dev made was in response to Spark asking about the feedback system.

Are you suggesting that it’s unreasonable to assume (expect) that a service you offered when a customer purchased the package will remain available? This is a really lame response to legitimate concerns.

A reasonable person would conclude Spark’s doing everything in his power restore the site to your expectations.

A wise person will realize that there’s a difference between what you expect and what you’re actually owed. I don’t think you want to find out what you’re owed; it might be less than you think.

By all accounts it will remain available, as soon as it is updated by its developer to support the new version of forum software…

Let's lower the temperature a bit folks. Spark is at the mercy of a third party developer in regard to getting the "feedback" system reinstalled. He has promised to update when it is available. Last I heard, it was in beta.

I take him at his word. I don't get paid, so it's not self-serving to say that. I don't need this "job".

Let's please not get into ad hominem attacks here. We share a mutual love for knives and this community, at least that's true for most...maybe not as much for those who only see it as a vehicle for profit...but either way, let's keep it respectful.
