I agree with prioritizing security, and I understand the feedback system is outside BF control, but has leadership heard any indication of timeline from the 3rd party?

Just curious if its looking like weeks or months to reimplement

Me too. More than a couple. It’s a gamble to know just who you’re dealing with these days.

I’m really hoping we don’t start back at zero. That was not fun.

Hey guys, what happened to feedback ratings? They aren’t visible anymore and that was so incredibly vital to completing sales here. Also, I’m no longer receiving email notifications when there is activity on here. Any insight on that?

It does seem a lack of feedback is impacting sales for members. Especially when fraud and scams are thick and getting smoother. Whether as a seller or buyer, you can't be too cautious today. It's bad enough dealing with this economy impacting us, but adding in the fraud just takes away from the joy. Secondary markets are built on a level of trust between the seller and buyer, take that away and it effects us all ultimately.

Had a buyer contacted ten minutes after posting a take it for payment that wasn't me. The sleazeballs are getting fast! Unfortunately.

I understand some are just asking about the feedback because they haven't read Spark's posts about the situation and this is not aimed towards them, but why are so many complaining after they get the answer to their question?

Unless you're a maker or a dealer ... this is a hobby to be shared, discussed, and to be FUN. If it's that big of a stress on you that feedback is down for awhile maybe the break while waiting for the programmers to update the software will be good for your blood pressure.

Yes feedback is great and can be a helpful tool and I will also be happy to see it restored when the update is available, but if you participate and communicate with a buyer or seller and do a little research (which you should anyway) instead of being in a huge rush it shouldn't be as big of a deal as some of you dealers impatient members are making it.

If you'll recall the feedback has been active through months of the email scamming that's been going on and feedback does absolutely nothing to stop that. Common sense and communication does.

The benefits we get from the membership fees are a bargain for all the knowledge, direct picture posting ability, private messages (that would help you avoid the current email scam where feedback is uselss ... just saying). And yes that includes the no fee exchange that's given to us as a BONUS to the community (it's a bonus because 99% of us aren't knife makers or dealers right ... I mean righttt?).

So have some patience and maybe show a little appreciation for the forum and the unpaid staff and thank an admin for putting out all the fires that pop up constantly instead of being another fire.

I must be getting old ... now get off my lawn!

Rant over.

aaaaaand that's a mic drop.

Just figured we paid a membership fee for something. If it’s mainly for just discussing you can literally do that anywhere for free.
I meant that David’s reply was like clockwork. Not a dig at you at all, more just having fun with David.

They are at the mercy of a 3rd party to get feedback up and running again. I hope it’s restored sooner than later because it does help when buying/selling/trading.

Maybe that should have been figured out before the "upgrade" ????? I am sure many on here are more than just a little proud of the feedback that (I know am) we work so hard to earn. From accurate descriptions to stellar packing and timely delivery - sometimes it's more for the feedback than just selling a knife.
You can't have a platform like this and take away a major feature and expect people to not ask questions - and not everyone understands the ins and outs of XenMofo 2.7.5.22 abcdefg either.
It was here, now it's gone and obviously a lot of people are anxious to have it back 👍

The timing is unfortunate, but there were security issues that needed addressing...and that necessitated the update. The fact that a third party feedback system was not "ready" for the update is secondary to the primary issue.

Now, let's move along. Spark can't write the software himself.
