Front Flippers - pictures and discussion

Fun fact, the Spyderco Techno can be front flipped. I've got the technique down and can now do it consistently.

I can front flip my Inkosi, no problem! Well not flip, more front thumb rolled.

Also most of my Emerson Cqc7s can be front flipped, but you have to give them wrist.

Fun fact, the Emerson Raven also has the corner of the tang that sticks out. Originally it stuck out farther with the INTENTION that the knife could be front flipped. However Emerson dialed back the size of the exposed tang because they were worried that the ability to front flip the knife would make the knife illegal in many places and states. Back then the Carson flipper tab wasn’t known in the knife world.

Edit: ps I’m trying on my techno. I dont see how it can be front flipped.

Double edit: Nm just figured it out. You have to give it wrist too.
Newt trick but not very comfortable. All the knives listed in this post CAN be front flipped or rolled but their standard openers are WAY better.

I can get mine to flip out pretty hard without any wrist, maybe its just mine. It isn't the most comfortable way of opening it though. I've got a video on my IG of the front flipping action, @edcgravy

I tried it on my Techno (which has very good action), it's very uncomfortable and difficult. I'd argue it's unfeasible.

Anybody try the new Real Steel Frontflipper yet? Metamorph or something? Seemed like a decent knife for the money.

Does anyone know whether the Masserin Atti can be opened as a front flipper?
It has a thumb stud but it sorta looks like it could be front-flipped . . . maybe.

Bump.

I now have three front flipper knives of different sizes from sub 3" to 3.5".
Front flipping works great regardless of size.
Particularly, I think that it is the best method for small knives like Feist.

It that a full zirconium Macwasil?

Its nice. A Small 3” version. I made the scale, back spacer and lock protector myself. It was ivory G-10. I really havent carried it much since finishing the new LSCF scale upgrades.

Gareth Bull has been promoting (on his IG) an upcoming front flipper from a knifemaker I've never heard of: Joel Scott-Turner. Called the "Morpheus." Made by WE.

Gunna have to try that sucker out. I really like front flippers. Though I prefer ones that don’t have thumb studs or other opening methods. Part of what makes front flippers so nice to me is the minimalist design.

In truth thumb studs or spydie hole is a better opening method in terms of ease of use so if I had that option I don’t know why I would use the front flipper.
