Mark's 4" Frame lock flipper
Collaboration (sort of. I did a little bit)
6-4 titanium and Delta 3V frame lock.
This is a prototype but he has it dialed in pretty well. The detent is a work of art, it closes with a satisfying CLINK! No blade play or wobble open or closed. This thing is a bank vault. The grinds are an insane demonstration of the rare-as-unicorn grinding skill Mark possesses. And also some of my grinding. It's a complex compound grind giving you a reinforced point but with a tall grind giving you clearance behind that primary in the middle of the blade with a clean symmetrical and you-have-to-see-it-in-person transition. The grind is low and obtuse at the point and I cut some swedges into the spine there. This combination lowers the shoulders to a point behind the tip making a very strong reinforced point. I tweaked the blade shape a little, sharpened it and gave it a little penetrator point too. So, while this folder is definitely Mark's baby, I helped a little. A fantastic Fun Friday today. (I'm on beer #2 now)
Delta 3V blade at HRC61 is unbreakable. This particular specimen is pretty heavy duty. You could cut nails with this or open up a car door in a relatively permanent manner.
5 1/2" Closed length
9.0 oz
4" blade is .170" thick Delta 3V at HRC 61.0
10" hollow grinds
Edge is 22 DPS
Lock bar insert and stabilizer
Antique micarta back spacer
$700
