Just wanted to post this up for everyone to see. I got word about a week or two ago that they were re-doing their policies on subscriptions and if you were a start up you had to re-apply.

Then today one of their reps called me and told me that my application had been denied. When I asked why he said they didn't give him a reason but he assumed it was because they had checked my website (which is required for the start up subscription) and saw it had to do with knives. He informed me that they view knives as weapons and are denying all start ups that focus on weapons.

Sorry to hear that ... what is it with people? ... knives are tools ... some idiot people turn them into weapons ... no different than a hammer.

And I wonder what there great great grand parents would have ate and lived on while moving west without rifles and knives ... sad ...

hum im going to contact them. Thy have been emailing me wanting to push stuff. i have been playing with the free version. hell i this is the case i will go back to my tryied and true 1998 version of autocad thats ully paid for.

Why apply as a business ?

You're a hobbyist, with a joe Blow email address and a different computer/ip address.
Yeah I suppose that would work for some but they do require that you have a website and once they see it's knife related...

Well, they are not the only ones... Try to place an ad at FB or IG for a knife that is not culinary and it will get denied each and every time.
Luckily my knives are mostly culinary, but when I managed to get my ad approved it took about 15 days of back and forth messages.

I sent an email off to autodesk expressing my concerns. I can see them pulling a start up license if your not a start up or have a business. At that point it’s just personal use/hobby. But I think thy have a license for that as well.

I've been in the jobshop field a long time and have had numerous name brand and not name brand software packages from the start, plus the maintenance fees that go with them. Software companies are in it to make money not pass out free stuff. It comes down to either paying up or figure out a work around. Free software will get you by (maybe) but if you are in business it's part of the cost of doing business.

yes that’s understandable and I don’t think anyone has argued contrary. What’s the issue is that thy give free to some people and not others because thy don’t like what thy make.

PayPal is getting a few people now. Locking accounts over “weapons sales”.. I got flagged over a knife sale. Apparently the buyer memo’d in the payment about it being for a large knife and boom.. account locked. I’ve seen more and more guys talk about it happening on Facebook too..
Least that’s the reason I was given on the phone. It was a g&s transaction and I received no explanation other than being told it violated policy and probably for “this” reason..
