Greg Medford customer service

I am sorry for your problems. MKT knives are brutes and fantastic use tools. I have a Praetorian G, A, and Ti with a MicroPraetorian on order. On my the A and Ti there were some issues that needed to be addressed as they were not caught in final inspection. I can understand that. We pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for homes with defects or tens of thousands for cars with them. Man has faults and so do the things we make.
I called MKT about the issues and Amy put Greg on the line. They could not have been nicer to deal with. Immediate action was taken to rectify the issues to my satisfaction. Calling me several times to make sure all was well. They earned my respect.

To be totally honest with you Greg doesn't follow other makers and this is common with a few makers I know. They stay focused on what they are making/designing. I've even had a few tell me they don't want to get ideas by looking at others designs.

Brother with respect to your clip and from an unbiased opinion, why would you want to change the maker's design? The man has an 8 month wait on his knives and does plenty of business. I was lucky enough to get a Viper in the mail today (my first Medford) and its SWEET. I'm so happy, thanks Pellel2.

The $500 price is an obvious, "No I don't want to change my designed pocket clip, but if you really want it pay." I'm sure the cad design and input would cost a few man hours, with the included back and forth emails to find the right design you want. I'm sure Greg values his time at well over $100-$150 an hour.

Greg's a nice guy. How many guys are going to take a Saturday call to discuss a pocket clip? Just some things to think about. You asked for a change and he told you the cost. Whats wrong with that brother?

I don't know how you can honestly speak for someone as if you were great friends, when you really aren't. Personally, I don't buy it from anyone, there is no such thing as the stoic knifemaker/manufacturer that only follows the designs in their own mind. Knifemakers that are skilled and have been in the game for years have people they look up to in either design, manufacturing precision, variety of production, etc. Anyone tells you otherwise is a liar. Imagine how awkward things would be if you waled into Blade every year and no one knew anyone else? Weird.

I don't see how Greg Medford knowing or not knowing other knife makers is relevant to his customer service. Maybe it affects you wanting to spend money with him, but it has no bearing whatsoever on the service.

For a 500.00 pocket clip? I could think of quite a few people willing to take a Saturday call. I agree you should spend your money elsewhere with someone who is willing to create exactly what you want.

JCB0802, I couldn't care less of his knowing his peers. I was more concerned with his willingness to work with a customer willing to spend 900.00 with his company. If that doesn't get your attention then I don't know what does!

While I am sorry to hear about the OP's experience, I am also amused by this thread because the worst customer experience of my entire life came from Medford Knives (G.M. himself, actually) and, as a result, I will never own one of his products.

I would, as it is actually very interesting (and absurd), but he left off by threatening me in his own very special way and seemed somewhat unstable so I'd rather just leave it at: do yourself a favor and buy something else. There are so many quality products from which to choose!
