Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I have a number of them, but can't resist picking up another when I come across one. I guess there are worse things to collect.
Definitely :)
Indeed. Hot summers are to be expected here, but I heard someone claim that while this is a record setting year for sustained heat, it'll likely be the norm from now on. I hope that's not true.
That's worrying Rachel :(

Nice pic Jack !
Thanks Steve :)
You and Wee Staggy are getting well fortified for your pub crawl ! Have fun Jack !
Thank you my friend, the rain never stopped, but we had a good day :)
Love the stag on that one, Jack!

Finally forcing myself to carry something else today. Thought Skoll would make a fine alternative for Friday.

Thanks Jeremy, it's great to see Skoll, he has a nice patina :)
Rose Beast looking good Jer
Very substantial lunch my friend. Was the banana pepper very hot?
I enjoyed it Bill 😋 I usually start my meal with the pepper, but bite it off about 3/4 of the way up. It was hot, but not too much. The hottest thing on the plate is the freshly-made harissa, which is delicious :)
Good morning Guardians. Slept in this morning. Very unusual for me but I feel pretty good; not groggy at all. Decided to carry my Senator today.

Good for you Bill, nice choice there :)
Have a great weekend Guardians.View attachment 2291100
You too Dwight :) Stunning photo of that beautiful Lamb  :)

Something tells me that was delicious Jack.👌
It was Bob! 😋 :D:thumbsup:

I knew this forum was fake!!😁
🤣
Hello to all!
So many superlative posts and photos!
Still handling too many things at the moment, but I am trying to get back to posting, and more importantly, hanging out with everyone.

Here is an elk that was across the road last evening, shedding his felt.

The table the knife is sitting on was made by my wife.
Have a great day/Friday!!
It's great to see you here Dennis, hope you're doing OK pal :) That's a fine-looking cane with your '19  Cool elk pic too :)
Happy Friday. Here’s some flowers.

Beautiful photo Kurt  :)
Thanks, Jack. 🙂 Scout’s always saying things that make us laugh. We usually pick up dinner on Thursdays because the girls have swim lessons late in the afternoon. Scout will usually get chocolate milk if she can, which nowadays usually comes in small individual plastic bottles. The brand they have at a lot of places has a cartoon cow on the front that’s dressed up as different things on each bottle (cowboy, astronaut, artist, etc.) Her favorite one has a top hat. Anyways, last night she got chocolate milk with her dinner, and the cow had a deerstalker cap and magnifying glass. I asked her, on a scale of 1 to 10, where the detective cow ranked. She answered, “Benedict Cumberbatch!” 🧐🤣
LOL! Brilliant! 🤣🤣
Very kind of you, Jack. She’ll be excited to have her own. 🙂
A pleasure my friend, I'll get it off in the week :)
I think “Yorkshire Rider” should be the name of @waynorth ’s next SFO. 😁
At the train station, they sell an all-day ticket valid on trains and buses, called a 'West Yorkshire Rider'! :D
Nice. 🤣 We had this one in the guest bathroom at our previous house, but for some reason or other it never made it back up on the wall after we moved.

LKmItui.jpg
🤣
That’s a shame, Jack. It looks like Wells, which we visited on our first trip to the UK, still has their biweekly market going, so that’s good.

0IbJoWM.jpg

Might be due to the quality of the local constabulary. 😉

3cbPh7y.jpg
LOL! That looks like a great market :) I was hoping to get down that way this year, but all my friends down there have moved! :D
🤣
Don’t like mustard?! 😲 It’s one of my favorite condiments. I have at least half a dozen different mustards in the house right now. 😁
Yeah, strange I know, particularly considering it's the main ingredient in Secret Aardvark! 😖
That’s interesting about McDonald’s there, and certainly different from here. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not great, and there are several other fast food places I’d rather eat (though I try not to go to any of them too often), but most of the McDonald’s around here are at least clean and safe, and most of them have been recently updated.

The one thing they aren’t anymore, though, is cheap, which kind of defeats the purpose. My go-to broke-college-kid McDonald’s order was two double cheeseburgers and a large fry. I must’ve ordered it often enough, because I remember the exact total: $4.10. Now the same order is almost $12. 🙄
Here, I think they are still cheap, but the burgers look tiny  I had a nice bacon double cheeseburger in a bar yesterday, but it was £10. That didn't even seem expensive, prices have gone crazy! 🤯
Oh no, this is how is starts, isn’t it? “Back in my day, a cheeseburger cost a nickel.” 👴🤣
🤣🤣
I’ve been enjoying all the canes/walking sticks. I have a couple made by my grandmother’s brother. He used to sell/trade them at their family reunions, which were pretty big events, as my grandmother was the youngest of 13! They’re nothing fancy, but I’ll have to take a couple pics sometime.
Be nice to see them Barrett  I need to take some more pics myself :)
Hope all you Guardians are looking forward to a good weekend. We’re heading to another baseball game tonight. I’ll have a Lambsfoot with me, but don’t know if I’ll be able to take any pics. (Knives under 3” are allowed, but taking pics can still be a bit awkward depending on where our seats are and how many people are around.)
Hope you had a great time buddy :)
I watched a video recently about something called the 9-9-9 challenge, where you eat one hot dog and drink one beer for every inning of the game — 9 innings, 9 hot dogs, 9 beers. 😲 I’m not sure what happens if the game goes into extra innings…
The kids carry you home! 🤣;)
TGIF !

Charlie Lamb to finish off a very busy week.

"We lived for three months in a rolled-up newspaper in a septic tank...."

You were lucky.
🤣🤣🤣
From McDonald’s? 😉🤣
🤣 No beer in McDonald's! :D Which is probably a good thing! :D
Hoping everyone gets off to a good start to the weekend. 🩸 to close the week. Hoping to recharge and see some family this weekend. View attachment 2291658
Hope you have a relaxing weekend Pete, and that next week is easier for you :thumbsup:
Of course! Adverts are all factual too.

Could be my favourite knife covers so far. Great name, too: "Desert Ironwood". Seems like "ironwood is made for knives.
Looking good Vince, we got lucky with that Ironwood  Came from the USA
Cool pic of your '19 Dwight! :D

We’re heading to another baseball game tonight. I’ll have a Lambsfoot with me, but don’t know if I’ll be able to take any pics. (Knives under 3” are allowed, but taking pics can still be a bit awkward depending on where our seats are and how many people are around.)

No Lambsfoot pics from the baseball game tonight, unfortunately. I did take one quick knife pic, but you’ll have to check out the Merle thread for that; it wouldn’t be allowed here. 😉

I did have an amusing experience involving my stag HHB when we got there. As I mentioned, Target Field allows pocket knives with blades under 3” inside the ballpark, and while they do have some fancy-looking metal detectors, I’ve never been pulled aside or asked to empty my pockets going in there before tonight. They usually just wave me on through.

Well, of course, tonight they ask me to step aside after I go through the metal detector — maybe it was because I had two Barlows, all that extra bolster metal, I don’t know — and the nice older lady I was directed towards asked me if I had anything in my pockets. So I reach in and grab a handful of stuff from my right front pocket — keys, pen, and my HHB — and held it out for her. She immediately points to the knife and, in a Minnesota accent that would sound right at home in Fargo, says, “Ope! That’s a no no!”

I politely reminded her that, per the policies listed on their website, pocket knives under 3” are permitted. Without really replying (I think because she knew that was indeed the policy), she picked up my HHB, opened it (I was surprised how easily she did this, as it does have a fairly stout pull) and held the blade against her ID badge, which must have been about 3” long, to check it.

Seemingly satisfied with the length of the HHB’s blade and my knowledge of ballpark policy, she handed the knife back to me. She briefly made a motion to close the blade, before suggesting that perhaps it would be better if I closed it myself. Yes. Thank you. 😁

The game was enjoyable. It was a Star Wars theme night, and the girls always get a kick out of the theme nights. The last game we went to was Harry Potter night.

While the drone show was impressive (I think, like fireworks, it’s something that’s a bit difficult to capture well in amateur photos), my favorite part was when one drone would occasionally just drift randomly out of formation, then, when it got far enough from where they had launched, descend somewhat rapidly into stands. I guess it’s kind of like catching a foul ball. 😁

Oh, and I passed on attempting the 9-9-9 challenge. Mostly because I don’t think I could afford it with ballpark prices. 🤑

Looks like a fantastic night out Barrett  Thanks for taking us along :)

No sooner had I met up with Nobber Al, when he was asking to borrow my pocket knife, as he had 'missed a bit' shaving. I suggested a better venue might be our first first watering hole, rather than the top deck of the bus!

Our first stop was a pub called 'Arcadia' :)

We drank off our pints, and headed off to The Head of Steam, where I ended up having a prolonged discussion about knife sharpening with the barman :D

Our next port of call was going to be The Headingley Taps, but we decided to give it a miss due to their lacklustre ale selection.

Headingley is an interesting old suburb, with some interesting architecture. We were both struck by this former church...

While admiring another building, further along the road, we got chatting to some security guards who were looking after a television shoot.

Headingley was once the centre of Yorkshire's old Skyrack Wapentake, part of the old Viking system of government. The name is commemorated by the next pub we visited, which has been rather ruined inside unfortunately, having been knocked out, and extended to accommodate the vast numbers of students who congregate to drink here during term-time weekends.

The name 'Skyrack' is thought to relate to an ancient oak tree, which stood here for centuries, and which also gives it's name to the pub across the road, The Original Oak.

These pubs are about halfway along Leeds' most famous pub crawl, The Otley Run, which is best avoided. It tends to be an initiation for students, who do it in fancy dress, and hundreds of them do it every weekend. It's long, and it gets messy. We did encounter some young people who had come over from York to do it...

The Original Oak has also been pretty much ruined as a pub :( We headed up the hill to the next pub along, owned by one of England's big pub chains. The building was formerly a girls grammar school, and while the interior is impressive, it is not in fact much like how the building was inside. That's Al at the bar, in the green jacket, in the first photo below :D

I suggested a few beers in town, but Al had to get up at 6.30am, so we called it a night. For some though, the night was still young! :D

Good morning Guardians, it rained all day yesterday here again, and all last night, with temperatures low enough to cause me to put the heating on! Thankfully, the rain has finally just stopped, and I'm hoping it might even brighten up a bit. I have plenty of chores to do, so I might take care of a few of those, and then head down to Charlie's :) I hope you're all having a fantastic weekend. Thought I'd put a bit of WABOOM! in my step! :D ;)

Glad it worked out for you and Al. Your next venture should be organizing a large one.
My friends son organizes one in a college town once a year. He and his partner each earn $100,000. They have been doing it for about 10 years and even have a major beer brewer sponsoring their endeavor.

When expensive doesn't seem expensive, you know we are doomed. 🤣 🤣 🤣
True! :D When a pint got past ten Bob, I stopped counting! 🤣

Blimey, that sounds like a nice way to make a living Bob :) I used to run bars at some of the big festivals here, like Glastonbury, but with friends working for me, it was like herding cats! 😖🤣

..Oh... it's coming Pete, Rachel... it's coming... and hell's coming with it... on a dark horse... with fire from its nostrils... leaving scorched earth in its wake... galloping on undulating waves of ash... ... ... ok, ok.
😀🤣. It feels that way some afternoons. We have had some brush fires in our area but most have been contained quickly. It is very dry all over.
Hope you have a relaxing weekend Pete, and that next week is easier for you :thumbsup:
