Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Happy Friday Guardians. Those Gerstner Chests works really well with knives. I have one just like that sitting on a table next to my favorite chair. Very convenient. And another gesture of generosity from Bob. Bob you are a good guy.

I haven’t posted a beach picture in awhile. Here’s an older one that came out good. I can’t really walk now as I evidently somehow pinched a nerve in my lower lumber region. I have never had back problems. But besides this one now I have some severe back problem with a long medical name I can’t spell. I have a physical therapist to work with now. They tell me in 6 weeks I should be able to get around. Just started oxy for pain this morning. I should be able to get back to where I was and deal with the underlying problem. So I’m very happy the prognosis is good. I know others here have had real serious health issues and emphasize with you. I just needed to vent a bit.

On a positive note I won’t be walking down to check the mailbox for knives for a few weeks. And there’s a good chance I’m going to start collecting canes. I won’t get one with a sword in it. Well maybe with a big long lambsfoot.

Oh man, do I know that all too well, 4 decades of lower Lumber Pain which cripples my hip - from a fall, 18 months of Injections in the massive tear of the Lumbar Tendon - which had my hip set all twisted and contorted, was meant to save having an operation, I wish to almighty I had the operation.

Be real careful of those pain killer my friend- they will grab you when you don't even know it, they are great for a crutch- but there's a very blurry line of when you actually need that crutch or need that fix after that first initial need of help with pain.
Once you get over the pain and you start to get mobility back- seek some help from a Physio and do stretches - they will help you be able to control mobility and pain - Stretches are SO SO underrated.

I'm terribly sorry for sounding like a preacher, but I too couldn't walk because of pain, my surgeon couldn't believe the difference from my stretching, he basically closed the draw that had his Scalpel in.

Knife talk- I am outside Concreting today with my Hartshead, I hope to catch a snap of that beautiful knife in action!

That'd be nice Jer :)

I can understand why that is hogging your pocket buddy :)

Thanks Steve, great pic of a great knife

Is that sciatica Kurt? Sounds unpleasant my friend, I hope the physio helps, and that you can get back to normal  Wonderful pic there :)

At least you know it was made in Sheffield, and not China ;) Nice work on making it shipshape :) Welcome to the Guardians

LONG day here, but all went smoothly. I got my work done, and after a nice Indian lunch, having a couple of hours to spare, I called in at the People's History Museum. They had Thomas Paine's desk! Strange story about his body though

Nice Albers today.
Strange because his body parts are scattered everywhere?😱

Thanks Bob. This is a good hobby for those a bit sedentary. It won’t be long before all my knives joints are oiled up. Wish mine were. 😀. I’m thinking of getting a top hat to go with my cane and going full Mr. Peanut.

By coincidence, I tried on a pretty good old top hat at the museum today - and did a few impressions of Oliver Reed in Oliver! 🤣 Very fancy Lamb my friend :)

Sorry for all your suffering Duncan :( Be careful with that concreting

Thanks pal :)

Thanks Bob :) Yes! There was a much shorter version in the museum, (where they have a lock of his hair), where it was claimed that his corpse had been left somewhere by mistake, "probably a pub"!

You youngsters are always getting frisky, then your out of commission for a week.View attachment 2733948
I heard a radio interview with the chap, who, as a boy, had played Oliver in the production. The interviewer said that it must have been nice to work with Oliver Reed. He replied, to the effect: "Well, not really, he was a method actor, and spent his time on the set in character. So if you went near him, you'd get cursed at, roughly shoved, or cuffed round the ear!" 😖

Duncan thanks for telling me about your experience. The main concern is Severe Facet Lumber Arthropathy. They also told me my hip is bad. I had no idea. I am wary of the oxy. At first I said no but couldn’t handle the pain. I started with the Therapist yesterday and just finished my first round of stretching a bit ago. I guess I think about lambsfoot knives too much and should be more in touch with my body…jeez. My observant doctor told me I had the backbone of an old man. Yes and I’m bald and ornery often…tell me something I don’t know. 🤣. She must have meant “older”.
Here’s an old picture of my first lambsfoot. I liked Pete’s a lot.

Sorry to hear of your pain, back troubles are no fun.

Great picture !

Arrived from Sheffield in rough shape. Spent a few hours sanding off the burrs, taking the grind marks off the blades- nice satin finish now. Scratches on the bolsters were too deep to remove, but everything is buttery smooth. Rounded out the jagged parts of the butt end and gave it a couple coats of flaxseed oil.

Great walk and talk on the main and the pen blade has the strongest snap of all my traditionals. Appreciate this community.

Nice job !
