Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Here's a few pics from my trip to the Barwick-in-Elmet Maypole Festival. It's a lovely little village, with 3 pubs, so we started with a pint in the best of them, and then went to watch the parade.

I wondered who the ladies below were, their costumes reminded me of traditional Bulgarian costumes, but it turns out they're an unusual dance group called 400 Roses.

This is the City of Leeds Pipe Band. I do have a short video of them playing Amazing Grace, but I am currently experiencing the most frustrating of technical difficulties

(I know what you're thinking mate, but you haven't got a chance of getting up that pole!)

There were some dancers performing, but the kids wanted to see the fair, so we slipped off there via the beer-tent ;) As well as fairground rides for the kids, there were animals, and various stalls, but the people of Barwick like to sit on their hill, which as you might be able to see is actually the site of the original hill fort and castle.

Some little girls danced around a much smaller Maypole.

The May Queen looked very bored, poor lass, I'm sure she'd rather have been dancing around with her friends.

While the weather wasn't as bad as the forecast, there were light rain showers throughout the afternoon, and unfortunately, by 5pm, when local lad Dan was set to scale the Maypole, it was raining heavier, and the pole was soaked. Dan gave it a go, which I captured on video, but he kept sliding off the wet surface. I hope that doesn't mean that Barwick isn't cursed for the next 3 years, or anything, because me and Matt are thinking of having a pub crawl in the area ;)

The kids had fun anyway! :D

I hope the move goes smoothly !

Ominously the Spey was referred to as a castrator in Australian knife catalogues through most of our history. The fascinating history of these knives is what enticed me to get Cosimo to recreate a beautiful and classic Australian knife the “lamb tailer and castrator”.

It’s quite a fitting knife today and I hope you can forgive me for showing both blades Jack.
Today after fathering 4 beautiful sons my siring days have come to the end and I’m off to visit the farmer to be neutered.
So naturally, this is my lamb of choice today.

Good luck with the op Jack  Other blades may or may not have a fascinating history, but this is the Lambsfoot thread. It's that combination, rather than the other blade, that has historic interest here, particularly in relation to Australia, though I think it's already been discussed at length. Stick to the Lambsfoot please

That's extremely kind of you to say Dwight :)
He's thinking "When I was young..."
He's telling the missus about it now! :D

Lovely to see Violet Mitch :)

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a good week. I don't have any work on, so I am going to meet Wolfie for a coffee at Charlie's, and then take care of some errands in town. Got Charlie's Flat Cap Lamb in my pocket :) Have a good day Guardians
