Sample of one of S&W's older polymers. An early Sigma 380. No slide catch. To remove slide for basic field-strip cleaning, a punch is required to push rolled pins.

Fun fact about that .380/S&W. I've seen 2 of those come into the gunshop with cracked slides and both times S&W replaced them with MP shield 9's even though their BG380 was in production.

Interesting. The slide, and even the barrel/chamber almost look pot cast. Worried me a little originally. But will say that it is a very sweet shooter. Of my small guns, I absolutely hate shooting my Ruger LCP. It just kills my trigger finger and hand. But that little Sigma I could shoot all day....if I dared. :D

Some also mention my little Springer Micro 45 and how it must be a bear. But it's actually as smooth as any of my full sized heavies. I have no problems putting a couple hundred rounds through it in a quick session. Smooth as can be.

Both frame cracks developed at the rear grip where the roll pin is. Im guessing its just a weak point in the polymer. Keep an eye on it but in my experience if something happens S&W will make it right.

bflying bflying D Ditch-Tiger , thanks for the info on the SW380.

When these came out the Gun Magazines RAVED about them. I bought into the hype and needed something small and easily concealable as I regularly had to transit some rough areas at bad hours.

It wasn’t S&W’s proudest achievement.

It did have the effect of teaching me never to trust a media source that makes its revenue from selling advertisement space for the same product it’s reviewing.

It’s good to know S&W will still stand behind the gun. It says a lot about the company.

Man you guys have some pretty EDC pistols. This is what 10 years from wake up to bed looks like on Ceracote. Monthly trip to the range for a mag dump of the Federal HST and a reload. I have carried this knife for at least 2 days a week since the mid 80's.
