Greetings friends, I recently read an article entitled "11 Reasons Why You Should Try Handmade Guitar Picks", and I realized I could just make some of my own. Well that is what I did, and after using them myself I found that the article was pretty much spot on. In fact, the experience of using my handmade picks was so much more natural and enjoyable than the factory plastic picks I have, that I knew than and there that would stick with handmade from now on. I took some time and made more of them in in a variety of materials and thicknesses with the intent to share the experience with others, and now that I have a bunch of them ready, I felt it was the right time to start offering them for sale.

I'm sure I'll sell them on eBay and IG as well, but I wanted to start here within my favorite community, because who is more deserving of a nice handmade pick in knife making materials than a knife afi-guitar player? :D

There are an awful lot here, and they are not all uniform in shape or thickness due to the variety of materials used, and the nature of making items by hand. If interested in one or several, either for yourself or musically inclined friends or loved ones, PM me or send an email, these will be affordable performance in your hand.

All prices listed below include the cost of shipping, which will be in a tracked envelope.

Kydex
$12 for one, $15 for 3, $25 for 5

G10
Thin picks (pink, orange, yellow, red, camo) - $12 for 1, $20 for 3, $30 for 5
Medium thickness picks (blue, yellow, yellow/green translucent, Jade Ghost, OD green) - $15 for one, $25 for 3, $35 for 5
Thick picks (white, one red one, one Jade Ghost one) - these picks also tend to be thicker at the top than at the point, which also helps with retention - $16 for one, $26 for 3, $40 for 5

Wood
$16 for 1, $26 for 3, $40 for 5

Holstex (i.e. carbon fiber Kydex)
$16 for, or $25 for both (I have no more Holstex in stock, unless you want pink, because I do have pink Holstex, jussayin')

Micarta
Single color picks - $18 for one, $32 for 3, $45 for 5
Python, burlap or layered Micarta picks - $21 for one, $36 for 3, $50 for 5 (can be made to order, although the burlap pictured below is a one off, but I do have brown and marron burlap also).

All finished picks I currently have are pictured below, but bear in mind I can make more to order, and if you have a particular color or material you are interested in, drop me a line, as I may have it in stock.

All prices are via PayPal G&S to the email address I will provide in private messaging (not the one in my sig).

So without further ado, here are the guitar picks I have made so far. Thanks for looking!

All:

G10 bright colored (the ones that look gray are actually translucent Jade G10, and the top two yellow/green ones are also translucent):

G10 dark and neutral colored (the left one is purple):

Micarta:

Kydex (these are really neat because they have a textured surface on one side, and the other is smooth, allowing for good control and repositioning):

Holstex (aka Kydex with a carbon fiber side, similar control as the Kydex ones):

Bocote wood:

Unknown wood (the wood was mailed to me by a customer, and used in his knife, and I had just enough excess left over for these guitar picks):

My favorite one, Python Micarta, up close, both sides:

Good morning and thank you all for the interest!

I seems a little odd saying it, being that you’re the moderator and I’m not, but you need to list the total price...

My mistake. Forgive me, I moderate my subforum, not the exchange, and haven't made a post of this type before, so I was in new territory. I have fixed my error and added pricing info to the OP. Thank you for your patience.

Would you be interested in doing a jazz pick style in micarta for me? I'd definitely try one out

Why not? :) Shoot me an email with an image of your preferred pick. It'll be no trouble at all to make a paper stencil so I'll just charge the normal price, nothing extra.

What's a good email to reach you at?

I will take it. Sent email

I made up a template in G10 to use for future jazz picks. I should be able to make just about any other style as well. Thinking about making myself a couple of wider picks for the faster playing I like to do.

I had a buddy who used jazz picks, and he challenged me to switch to a jazz pick for 1 week. At first I absolutely hated it, I thought there's no way I could get used to it. By the end of the week I tossed all my picks and ordered some dunlop jazz picks. Really excited you got those set up so fast David! Excited to try them out. I'll be using them for death metal.

Interesting. Not a metal guy any more, but I still like to riff out for an hour or two on my one remaining acoustic once every six or twelve months. Keeps the fingers young. ;)

I'll try the jazz pick.
