How do I? Having trouble emptying the "trash" in my inbox...

I've moved stuff to trash and have tried to get rid of it, but it won't go away. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

It looks like that after choosing selected on the upper right, a banner appears at the bottom of the page to give you different options. I just fumbled my way through it, and it seemed to work.
