How To Help: remove severe loctite screw from free spinning stand off

I could edit my post but I was including the anodization too ;) Is this a manufacturer you could get a replacement standoff from just in case you have to go whole hog with pliers and end up damaging it?

nice, this is something i can try! any idea if this will screw up a blue ano on titanium?

looks like ano has to be 600+ F to apply.. water boils at 212 F, but i'm sure the pan itself gets much hotter than 212. maybe pour the water into a bowl? there's not way 200 degree water can screw up ano right??

The temp of the pan/pot will not be any hotter than the material in the pan. That's why the water doesn't keep boiling after you turn off the heat.
I really doubt you'll see a exothermic reaction when you place the knife in the hot water.
The 200 degree will not screw up the ano.
You can also use a no.2 pencil with an eraser to hold the stand off. Use the eraser end to keep the stand off from free spinning. The hot water should soften up the thread lock or expand the metals enough to loosen them.

awesome. thanks!

One way to hold a stand off is in a drill chuck. The 3 point pressure would be more uniform than a pair of pliers. Pencil soldering irons are not very expensive. You can heat the stand off as well as the screw.

I think zelric is the we knives warranty guy now? You could contact him.

Also don't put cold water on the knife after boiling it. Don't want to warp anything. You could place it on something in the pan that your boiling the water in to keep it off the metal pan if you prefer but should not be a problem.
