Recommendation? Help! Replacement handle and bolster for vintage Sheffield pocket knife

Timely thread necromancy. I have an Imperial Kamp-King with a similar shell construction that I'm wanting to fix back up. It has shrunk & peeled apart. I've been thinking in between stripping it off & cleaning up the metal underneath to leave a bare metal finish or taping it off & putting some kind of enamel/epoxy/ceramic type paint on it. But the vinyl idea looks like a good option as well
