Mail order seems to be the way to go for sheet metal to line home made knife and axe sheaths. Would any of you have recommendations for the best material (copper, brass, tin), the best weight/gauge, and suppliers? Thanks! Jim

You could also use plastic. If you want metal you could use 28 ga stainless steel chimney flashing you could find that at a building supply.Similar copper flashing is also made.28 ga =.015" , 26 ga =.018" , 24 ga =.023" Anything thicker will be difficult to work and not needed for the job.

Thanks! Now I know what gauge to look for on the web. I'll try the flashing as a start and see what it's like to work.

Sheaths will be leather and I wanted to provide a little protection with something other than rivets. Kydex is something I'll check out since I never gave it a thought.
