Help with Overlay Swap on Friday Club Gemini

I picked up the recent Friday Club Gemini. It came with a wooden overlay attached and a spare Micarta overlay for swapping. However, the only hardware attachment is at the pivot. Once I finally got the wooden overlay free, I noticed that it had been liberally glued in place. I put in the Micarta overlay but of course, it doesn't sit flush.

So, what is the best type of fixative to use here? Also, should I scour off the old glue first?
