High Value, Budget, EDC Knives, narrowed down. Advice Wanted...

Expectations for a $50 knife should be well tempered. The Chinese knives I've had have been hit and miss in assembly, requiring some attention to get them working right. Tightening the pivot screw will likely eliminate the wobble and improve the centering. Sharpening will improve the factory edge.

If you like the size and feel of the knife you might want to try and fix it. Otherwise I'd recommend the Sencut Neches.
Hard to know how to feel. I handled about 6 or 8 Civivi's in the past month or so and am getting a sense for them. None really had any issues vs this one. On the fence. On the one hand, these may be fixable problems. On the other, unacceptable on a knife from a big name knife retailer on a brand new factory knife. On principle, it's going back. Maybe just exchange and see what shows up. This one and the Civivi Chevalier are both calling my name. :)

Turns out “narrowed down” means you haven’t yet listed the winner. At least I hadn’t.

Civivi Chevalier arrived a little over a week ago. My new shop, utility, around the yard knife. Action is incredible. First fuller I’ve actually been able to use (easily)—almost wish it didn’t have the flipper tab. Button lock is perfectly smooth. Locks up very solid. Blade shape is ultra practical. Handle feels full in hand and small in pocket. Have yet to sharpen it, but it’s sharp out of the box. Big win.

Thank you, all, for the help. A zillion knives out there, and this forum certainly makes sifting through them much easier (and fun).

Good choice! I love the flipper tab but I'm a flipper guy. The ergonomics are decent. The blade shape is fantastic. The stonewashed finish is nice. (I strongly prefer it versus a bead blast). It's easily my favorite of the button-locks from Civivi.

True, nothing wrong with a good flipper. The flipper-tab-plus-liner-lock does drive me a little nuts (when closing), but with a button lock (on this one) the tab is just fine!
