Hiking Boots in Wide Width?

Redback make nice wide boots (I have wide feet). I bought some of their hiking boots and didn't need to break them in at all, out of the box they were more comfortable than my normal shoes. I liked them so much I bought a pair of slip-ons for my day to day use to replace my normal shoes. Not sure how easily available they are in the US (they are Aussie made) but i believe that some fire-departments have switched to redbacks so you may be able to find them. But the sizing may be tricky so try and talk to someone if you order them in. Very affordable too (at least here - mine were $150AU).

I wear 13 wide (EEE) and I've had great luck with Columbia. I'm pretty heavy, and they've held up well. For less than $100, I get a sturdy shoe that wears well, holds up, and is pretty comfortable. I've got three pairs on the floor in front me right now-2 years old beater, 1 year old in great shape except for the cloth on top (I wore them while grinding a knife, that was dumb:() and a brand new pair for this seasons long hikes. In comparison, Sketchers shoes (when I wore shoes) would last me less than three months, so getting a solid year out of a pair of hiking shoes or boots is great for me.

Thanks all for your suggestions! I wish I had an REI or other store in my neck of the woods to check these brands out. But this has definitely helped me narrow the search.

I also have wide feet and have lots of problems finding boots. My hikers are Danners and they're going on 7 or 8 years now I think. I wear the, on all my camping trips and pretty much daily at work for the past couple of years. My uniform boots were Danners as well. They work well for me.

As other folks stated too, New Balance tend to work for me as well. I did look at a pair of low hiking shoes from them the other day and may go back to check them out later.

I like Merrels partly because they tend to have a wider toe box than other boots. You might want to give them a try.

Same is true of Lowas.

I find a lot of other brands too narrow for my feet.

Been a few years since I bought boots, but Vasque Sundowner and Newbrier in wide just fit my 4Es. New Balance has a new goretex trail shoe out now by the way.

Hi everyone. Old thread bump. I know I don't have many posts here, I've been lurking. :o I've been trying to find boots in my size, I just found this thread here, and since many of you have way more experience with things like this... I'm currently wearing Asics trail running shoes, size 14 4E, which after wearing for several weeks, have stretched out enough that they are comfortablish, but, they've really stretched. I'm actually only a 13 or 13 1/2, but my feet are ridiculously wide so I get the next size up so I can get my feet inside. Add to that, I have a relatively narrow heel, and NOTHING fits. I had to get a custom orthotic made by my podiatrist to stop my heels from wiggling around. Please help! I'd really like to go hiking this summer, and want boots that fit.

I'm a fat boy with wide feet. I'm kinda new to hiking, but I have some Vasque Bitterroots that I've hunted in and put in at least 50 miles in. I have found them to be quite comfortable. I only wear them on a trail, in the woods, or on an evening walk in town (I try to walk about 4 miles).

The Perfekt Hikers by Meindl (available from Cabelas) are the most comfortable boots I have ever had. I also require a wide EE shoe.
These are what I have worn for about years now. I get about 3 years out of a pair, I wear these spring, summer, and fall.

The cork footbed is unbeleivable!

You might want to try on some Danner Mountain Light boots. A good friend of mine also wears a 13 extra wide (4E) and they are the only quality US made hikers that he has found that he can get his big dogs in and out of. Perhaps they might work for you too. I've got 2 pairs of the Mountain Light myself (regular width) that are both close to 10 years old now and can vouch for their quality, comfort and durability. I resoled one pair about a year ago and the other pair are about due for the same.

I'm pretty happy with my danner mountain lite 2 in wide with.

This is my go to boot for all purpose hiking as well. I am 14 wide. For heavy duty hiking I wear Asolo TPS 520's from REI and for light duty hiking and going to work i wear Merrell Moabs (from REI).
