Hill People Gear Kit Bag 1 Year Review

Yep you do sweat on it but I just clean mine in the shower occasionally with bar soap and a scrub brush. I work on a range and wear body armor a lot in the Georgia heat so it's no big deal for me. It will definitely be nicer in cool weather.

Nice post IA, hanks. I have a few friends who have these, and love them, and one who also stole that same carry idea for his truck. I really need to pick one of these up just for that option if nothing else. Much easier to access than the floorboard behind the front seats...

I think you will like it.

My only concern is heat and sweating. Is this better in cooler weather?

It is a little warm, but no worse than wearing a pack on your back.

The Kit Bag is an great piece of kit, imo. I wasn't sure how I'd like having a pack on my chest, but got used to it pretty quickly, and I love having things right in front of me and accessible without having to stop and take my pack off.

Works great for cross-country skiing as well:

I'm also going to experiment with taking it chukar hunting this season. There are many days where we are out all day, many miles from the truck, and I think that combining it with my bird vest for additional capacity will work well. And it doesn't interfere with mounting my shotgun at all. I'll post some pics when the time comes.

Combine it with HPG's Tarahumara pack and you've got all the room you need for a full day hike. The small Kifaru "pod" works well attached to the bottom of the Tarahumara for even more capacity if you need it. I've even been toying with the idea of trying to do a super light overnighter with that combo...

Attached is my Highlander on the runners harness with the runner’s kit bag. At the time of pixs, the kit bag hand cell phone small flash light bic lighter and just a large teck lok because I did not want to leave it lying around.
Attached to the highlander is a Camelback hot shot 3L, I have only tried it with about one L of water so far and minimal stuff in the highlander.

One pix is the compressed Highlander the other has 12 meals of mountain house food and a small pouched with miscellaneous items in it.

I have jogged up to six mile on multiple occasions with just the runners kit bag no issues, I have run at most three miles on many occasions with the kit bag attached to a tara pack using the runner harness no issues, stable comfy etc.
I have also run hills with the runner harness and tara no issue, stable.
Yesterday 1.5 miles with the runners kit bag on the runners harness attached to my highlander also attached is the hot shot. No issue other than me being out of shape and overweight. Surprisingly stable.
I don’t see myself jogginf with full 3L and Highlander full attached to the kit runner bag, that whole set up would be more for a long day hike.

Overall the runner’s kit bag is slender but can hold a good amount of stuff and is very comfy.
I have had my Glock 34 in the back portion along with plenty of stuff in the front compact with no issues.
