Horsewright Knives and Leather

Yes sir Dave it sure is a great song. Cool pic of your spurs pard ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค
Thank you sir. I use these when riding a bigger horse. My lil speedster I ride right now I use goosenecks on as I don't have to reach a lot for him. Don't have to move my foot much at all. Was cutting up some left over ribeyes for quesadillas this afternoon. Had a drooling supervisor:

Here's one for us old guys:

Listen up
I've rode this mountain
Seventy years I've been alive
Choked on rocks and rattlesnakes
A wonder I've survived
Don't think I haven't had
A bronc like you try me
Everytime he thinks a monster
Is hiding 'round a tree
Well the monster's on your back son
Better try to understand
The cowboy that you're fighting now
Was born to this here land
One day you'll earn your scars
And all the fearlessness you lack
Don't worry 'bout the things that you can't see
The monster's on your back
Now hear you this
I've rode through howling hell
And wind and snow and rain
I am oblivious to misery and pain
And that iron in your gizzard
It will never go away
So long as you've got
Work to do today
There's a monster on your back son
Get your guts up off the trail
We've got a job to do
And I promise we won't fail
One day you'll earn your scars
And all the fearlessness you lack
Don't worry 'bout that ornery Charlais bull
The monster's on your back
You think that if you buck me off
That I won't get back on
You can stomp me into the ground
And I'd be gone
You think that this old man ain't tough
Like he once used to be
Try me one more time and you will see
There's a monster on your back son
Better start to understand
The cowboy that you're fighting now
Was born to this here land
One day you'll earn your scars
And all the fearlessness you lack
'Til then you're going to have to trust in me
The monster's on your back
There's a monster on your back

I have a couple buckaroos that aren't branded.
Yours might predate the brand. Guessing weโ€™ve had it 3/4 years. Not sure on that. Are yours water buffalo?

Its branded on the back side......๐Ÿ˜‰.......... Still special enough for me...๐Ÿ‘
And it worx great with that Bali........ Like it was made.for it.......
Good deal. We did experiment with where to brand these guys.

We were taking pics for our sale on the website this weekend. Nichole was fascinated by the Mestano we have in stock:

She really liked how it fit her hand. This is kinda funny to me because I've been making Mestanos for some years now. She checks every knife she ships out, pulls em out and puts em back into the sheath to make sure they are good.. But she had never really mentioned that before. What I think its great about this model is it fits her hand perfect and my much larger one too. Pretty dang nice knife model.

Actually it's already on. Just seemed kinda funny to me that with the familiarity she has with all my knives, all of a sudden that one's special. You're absolutely right about how she has acquired most of her knives, though. Simple larceny! Then again she is the birthday girl today!

Happy belated Birthday Nichole.
Hope it was a great day

Happy birthday Nichole! Have to agree Dave. The Mestano is a great little knife and very slicy. Both mine have 2 1/2" blades. The chunky Elk handled Mestano fits my old hand really nice. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค

Good deal David! I really like that pic. It really does show that each of my knives even of the same model are unique to themselves. Lil different here lil difference there........

Thanks guys! Yeah it was a great day for her. I grilled two racks of ribs and two tri tips. While the meat was on I visited with two Viejo buddies. Both were sporting Horsewright knives. Shotgun Stewie had a California Coyote and Sr Vasquez a Tapadero.

These were the damascus versions of my regular Coyote and the Sonoran Belt Knife. They were sipping on tequila:

It is well know that I almost will NOT dye leather. Sr Vasquez, a retired judge, once bribed me with a bottle of Laphroaig to make him a black sheath for dress occasions. He knew how much I hate dyeing leather, kinda a funny deal. He said this is just for the dyeing and paid for the sheath too. He use to help us on our ranch and did for many years. I've known Fernando since the late 80s. Shotgun Stewie was our ranching partner for all those years. Ranching in California often involves hauling water and Stewie was our chief water hauler. I've known him for almost as long.

Both of these knives had long ranching careers.
