How about a Fiskars machete?

I got to take the Fiskar billhook thing out today to test it a little bit. A friend had a large evergreen fall the other evening during the storms, so that is what I was able to test it on. The billhook easily went through limbs up to about 2.25 inches with one swing. Anything larger took a few more, but altogether it seems to have some potential.

I cut off the tip, but left a little as a kind of beefier hatchet surface. Cut the handle down because I wanted something more compact. Put on paracord and superglued it in place for a nice grip. Drilled a new set of holes through the handle for a wrist loop.

I'll make a simple sheath for it later.

Lightweight, tough, inexpensive. Tough combo to beat!

Yes, Walmart seems to carry the Fiskars Brush Axe (or "Chopping machete" as it's labeled) for $20. It's a hell of a good user. Comes with a decent edge, a simple single bevel with a tiny secondary bevel. Country of origin isn't clear. "Finland" is molded into the handle. A decal on the back of the sheath/carry case says "China". Regardless, it's a tough good design.
