I still don't have a clue but with the replies from my original post I bought another one at an auction today for $10. It has an in, exit and two lines that say cyl. It has a neutral with a forward and back and springs back to the middle. It is quite a bit bigger than the one on my dads splitter.
So, am I getting closer yet?
PS, bought a single phase 1 1/2 horse 1720rpm motor for 50¢ and some other goodies.
