How do you care for your leather sheath?

Not found those problems with the mink-oil I use- Swedish stuff which is soft wax for waterproofing shoes,Boston is the name.

No white stains or oily appearance at all, keeps the gear very well waterproof mind, which I find useful.

One point with all sheath treating or cleaning is whatever you use BE FRUGAL over-doing it with any product leads to a poor finish or appearance, just a dab ladies&gentlemen:thumbup:

1) use shoe polish
2) use neatsfoot oil
3) something else?

O.K. here goes,
I vote for #3 :D

:D I put the leather ones up on the shelf or give 'em away, then I buy some cordura nylon sheaths from the 279 alpha hunters. They work swell, and no polishing or treating! Throw them in the wash and they are brand new again! (LOL)
Sorry for the thread hijack

Hey, I'm open to suggestions - LOL

Nah, if you like leather stick with it!
I'm too hard on them and dont maintain enough...
I'm either too busy... OR ... lazy :D

I got in a leather 110 sheath once that was so nasty I used go-jo hand cleaner on it to get most of the crud off. Then when wife wasn't looking I tossed it in the washer with my jeans. Fortunately I remembered to grab it before it hit the dryer.

It came out nice and clean and after it dried a few days, I rubbed it down with neatsfoot.

Probably a worse case scenario, but if it is nasty enough it works...
