how do you pronounce some of these knife names?

There were lots of folks at Blade Show saying Byoo-see Combat.

Don't feel bad guys--you're not alone.

I wouldn't know either if I hadn't been introduced to em (and coincidentally BladeForums) by a guy who had talked to and met Jerry before. :)

After 6 years of french in College i would pronounce Laguiole as La:gooi:ol (laguiol) (la-gooey-ol) or so...

But I can´t figure out a word that sounds like buck...

maybe... schmuck?:D

As for Busse: I guess this is a german company. As my mother language is also german I can say that it is pronounced bu:ss:e

not bassee, not busey (that´s an actor :D )

b like b
u lie the ou in you
ss like a sharp s
and
e like the 1st e in "welcome"!!"

bu:ss:eh

Dam*, this is heavy!:footinmou

Okay, fellas, how about Nimravus? I've been dreading the day someone asked me what I was carrying.

Phonetically spelled out. Nim-Rah-Vus (not Nim-Ruh-Vus). "Vus" rhymes with Bus.

From Dictionary.com, Nimravus = false sabertoothed tigers

Terrific. Now that I can pronounce my knives, I can go buy a few more.

If you call Busse Combat next week and ask to speak to Jerry, when he comes to the phone he will say "Jerry Busse" and he will pronounce it as
Bus with an e added. Bussy, like fussy. It's his name so he ought to know.:D

Fun lil' thread.

I have a friend that used to pronounce "Spyderco" like "Spee-Dare-co" even added a little roll and flutter of the tongue as a finishing touch to the end of the world.

I politely informed him, that the knife in my pocket is NOT pronounced like the name of a gay porn star.:D

How 'bout these:

Puukko
Leuku
Helle
Golok
Jarvenpaa
Stromeng
Haugrud

Puukko: Pew-koe
Leuku: Lee-oo-kew (I think)
Helle: Hell-leh
Golok: no idea
Järvenpää: Yer-ven-pae
Stromeng: no idea
Haugrud: probably How-grood

Waiting for some of our Scandinavian members to chime in...

Puukko: Poo-kaw
Leuku: Loo-koo
Helle: Hell-leh
Järvenpää: Yeahr-ven-pää (ää=a in magic)
Strömeng: Ström (ö=e in germ) eng
Haugrud: How-grood
