How Is Everyone Doing?

Busy few weeks coming up. CT scan on the 20th, oncologist visit on the 21st, Ultrasound on the 25th, follow up with my cancer surgeon on the 27th, undetermined follow up appointment with my vascular surgeon, and Connie has a cardiac MRI on the 5th.

Got a message from my vascular surgeon yesterday saying I need to schedule an ultrasound and some other tests on my legs. They want to be sure I don’t have another aneurysm in either of them like I did in 2021.
Get it done! Had a 11 1/2 hour back surgery today. Had s1 to L3 fused between all the small bones I had cysts and scar tissue I think they said. I put it off for many years but 20yrs in the infantry caught up to me. My back hurts pretty bad and I'll be in the hospital for probably 5 days. Wierd part is the back hurts everywhere but the spot that originally hurt. Already made a lap with my walker with the nurses help. I'll be doing pt and jumping out of planes again in no time. Plus I got 90 days of covelesance leave

Happy to hear surgery went well, get better soon! I will be having the ultrasound on the 25th.

Well it appears that my ass cancer is gone after 14 months of radiation and chemo NO SURGERY!
So I'm responding to fire and 1st responder calls again!
And fishing at least once a week. And doing landscaping honey do's!
lost 80 lbs but have already gained back too many (40) as my appetite is back and unsatiable.
Planning on a Arkansas Deer hunt in October during the muzzleloader season in the Ouachita National Forest.
Just picked up at my local FFL a Gunbroker win: Cimmeron SAA 1873 7th Cavalry Replica 7.5" barrel in 45 Colt, anxiois to see how it compares to my 4-5/8 SAA.
Been buying and fixing up fishing reels for the flea market, good therapy but my numb fingers suck with them little bitty screws
My oldest daughter and my grandson are coming down here to the Piney Woods in deep East Texas in a month and he is wanting to go fish with gramps!
Any of you friends ( I consider any of Johns group as friends) want a break in the cold ...COME ON DOWN! I got a sofa for ya!

Best of luck to you all and God Bless our little group and those we love.

Congratulations on beating your cancer, I’m hoping that mine is still gone after we get the results back from the CT this week. I only gained a couple pounds back after the surgery, but since part of my stomach was removed, I get full too quickly so I can’t eat much of anything before I feel sick. Tums have become my favorite dessert! I just keep hoping I get some ambition, I never feel like doing anything anymore. I get exercise by walking, but that’s about it.

I can't imagine going through all of that but it's good knowing you are on the road to recovery. Take it slow brother, you don't want to do too much too soon.

All is good in south central Tennessee.

Went to Blade last weekend and it was a nice weekend checking out all the knives and ephemera.

Bonnaroo was this weekend but after everyone got into the concert grounds on Friday, they had monsoon like rains which turned the venue into a chaotic quagmire.
Unfortunately, the event was canceled. I24 was closed for some time while tow trucks pulled vehicles out so everyone could go home. Quite a mess.
I never go, us locals just avoid Manchester that week.

I have just been riding my motorcycles and mowing my property while keeping up on the vehicle and equipment maintenance.

We did head back to Peoria in April as my sister arranged a nice 85th birthday for our Mom, and all the kids, grandkids and now great grandkids were in attendance.

Hope you all are doi g great.

I have been doing pretty much the same things here, mowing grass (when it’s not raining), and trying to keep up with things. Trying to sell my equipment locally, but not having any luck. Between Connie and me, most of our time is spent on doctor visits and appointments for tests. The only thing new is I’ve started fishing again, after about 30 years of not fishing.

I sincerely regret that Kephart couldn’t come to pass, and I feel those pangs as you talk about selling off your equipment, but I completely understand.

Conversely, I’m equally delighted to hear that you’re fishing again. In recent years I’ve been fishing a lot now that I’m a father of a growing boy, and I think of my late dad a lot. Fishing is a thing we shared. I particularly enjoy watching the sun rise over a glassy lake.

Tight Lines!
