how strong is the laredo bowie tang?

"Chopping" and "batoning" are two different things.

Correct. As the Laredo is a fighter, I suppose there is the theoretical possibility, that one could 'chop' off a limb during said fighting. I edited post #15.

I recently did some batoning with my laredo bowie and after a short time the hand guard came slightly loose not terrible but noticeable. But I am not soncerned with the tang of the knife

You should be able to tighten it back up at the bottom of the handle
