Hey guys, this is my first thread on the forum, and I’m glad to be here. So I picked this knife up at the swap meet just 2 days ago. I usually don’t purchase knifes but this one stood out to me because of the information put on the sheath.

There is writing that says
“Ligum-vitie handle
Bronz- hilt + cap
By Carl P. Barnes”
made in September 30 1993

so what I need help is, how and what’s the best way to get this handle to look it’s best, I know ligum vitie is not a wood haha and he obviously meant to spell lignum, and the handle does seem to be legit Lignum. I really like this knife and would also like to learn how to polish and sharpen the blade properly. Thank you all in advance.

Put a coat of paste wax or neutral paste shoe polish (same thing) on the handle.
Practice sharpening on a cheap knife first.
