How to not wear deoderant for the rest of your life...

This is a funny subject for this forum. I found out years ago that I break out in a rash with any anti-perspirant. Can't use deodorant soaps, either. The Arm & Hammer Essentials natural deodorant works for me. It is aluminum free. It uses sodium bicarb and various plant oils.

I too have worried about aluminum in antiperspirant lately.
A couple of weeks ago I found this Arm and Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant. It contains Coriander, Rosemary and Lavender oils as well as baking soda and no aluminum or parabens.
Been using it for 2 weeks and I smell fine!!

aka, "How to repel the opposite sex for the rest of your life..."

haha. why do people wear musk? ;)

FWIW, your natural body odor is a mosquito repellent. don't wear deodorant in the woods... i find it funny that if you look up insect repellent online, you invariably get recommendations to use DEET, all of which say it isn't harmful. i'll tell you what, spray some DEET on varnished wood and watch what happens. then come back and tell me that stuff isn't harmful to your body...

Okee, I won't respond to this inane statement just yet. (OK I may have already done so by typing the following). Crumbs...

Alright, if skeets don't like your stench, then tell me this: If you stink to skeeters, why do they bite you in the first place? Nah, I don't buy it.

To simply say that your own personal odor repels the buggers is simply incorrect. Your stench is what attracts skeeters. If a human was scentless, skeets would leave man alone. This isn't the case. We stink... well to MOST critters anyway, but skeets LOVE us. The smell of a warm blooded, healthy mammal is a delicacy to skeets, and especially if the victim has little to no hair to get in the way. Human BO repels two things: humans and humans, nothing else. Add "bears" and I'll be happy to discuss the possibility, but try to tell me bugs are repelled by our own BO, nope, that won't sit with the ol' man.

Uggh - I have been so unlcear. I meant to say that one bottle lasts about 6 months - and the crystal lasts about one year!

Spooky, I think the same is true for any antibacterial stuff - Lysol or Alcohol.

Shecky,

Here is my wife - proof that I don't stink that much!

All of that intelligence and you are a talfuchre as well! :D

It's interesting that you went this route. I've been watching this thread and I'm not a chemist or a specialist in deodorants and antiperspirants...except to know that some of them don't work for me and others do. I've been aware of the aluminum concerns for quite some time. I generally turn the shower ice cold right before I get out to close the pores in the hopes that this will inhibit the initial blast of chemicals from going deep in the pores...of course, they will open back up but hopefully that is limiting the intake to some degree.

I don't think "natural medicine" or homeopathic cures and whatnot are the panacea to all problems. However, I also don't trust bean counters and other vermin that work for corporations and I was actually stunned that someone in this thread could be so trusting of these cheapskates running these companies. There are so many things in life that we purchase that don't work, don't last or, years later, we find out way too late that we were slowly poisoning ourselves with some product because we were naive or ignorant and trusted people that only care about money.

Look at the current peanut butter paste contamination - THEY KNEW ABOUT IT! This is 2009 and it's really time that we all put on the big boy pants and stop urinating and defecating all over ourselves with our thumb stuck in our blowhole with this blind worship of corporations, as well as pharmaceutical companies and the medical and scientific communities which are mired in intellectual corruption at this point in time. Sure, you're not going to see GNC creating the new Cipro, but chances are when BIG PHARMA creates the next generation of antibiotics, most of us won't be able to afford it anyway...

This thread is a cool example of how we should balance old technology with new technology with an incredible amount of distrust for the moneyboys.
