how to remove rust looking stuff :D

i found a leatherman micra. several of the tools have light to medium... rusting? oxidation? (same thing!) it looks like its only right on the surface and the metal itself is still smooth. its mostly just a discoloration. anyone want to recommend a good cleaner to restore this micra? thx
 
First try using a paper towel/rag with a bit of light oil (wd40, breakfree, 3in one, any will do) and briskly rub the discolored areas. If this gets most of it(or if you're unlucky none of it) off then I would follow up with a bit of metal polish to brighten the surface and help smooth out the little crags that light rust leaves. Anything you can't reach with the rag use a soft/medium bristle toothbrush with oil/polish. If you get any polish into the working parts make sure you flush that out too.
 
Try alittle brasso, metal-glo, or flitz. Should take care of it (dont forget to oil it when your finished).
