Just looking for a place to take my shoes off. Sorry if they smell bad.

This will do nicely.

The HTM forum has recently seen a big boom of posting and views and I think this forum is going to grow quite a lot.

I just thought we could take the time to introduce ourselves and have a nice little off-topic chat thread to discuss any/everything (worksafe of course).

My name is Chris, I live in SW MO and work for a large carwash as a manager and repairman/boy. I am a junior in college and I like backpacking, knives, guns, e-cigs, and wet shaving as of recently. I am afraid of not trying new things, and that gets me in trouble sometimes.

I am fond of both traditonal knives and one-handed opening, more modern designs like Gunhammers (I am getting the S90V forum knife woohoo).

So that's me. Carry on.

I like the idea of a chat thread.

I'm Nick, I live in Colorado, although I have no idea where I'll be in a few years, since I'm a military spouse. My wife is on track to become a doctor in the Air Force, and we're hoping we'll like it enough to go career. I work a couple part-time jobs, in addition to taking care of the domestic life (somewhat of a stay-at-home fella): helping students get into college through test prep and college counseling, and I'm also a hobbyist knifemaker. Which means I am amateur, and only make blades that I want to. It's nice, getting to have any fixed blade (up to 24" in length), that I want, outside of really complicated swords and such.

My favorite folding knife (and possibly even knife in general), is, you guessed it, the Gun Hammer. Darrel Ralph has been my favorite knife designer since I first got into knives. My grail knife would be a custom damascus Gunny with a bolt-action lock.

I am the great cornholio. I need tp.... (at least a few of you must know where this reference is from)

All kidding aside, I'm Mr. Modman. Some of you may call me Hark...or Sir. I'm also kidding about the latter part, or maybe not. I'm waiting to here back from a grad school I applied for. I'm certified as a strength coach which means I have the know how and training to train athletes of all calibers, from amateurs to professionals. It's quite a bit different strength coaching than it is being your average personal trainer. I like my knives sharp and my guns to go boom. Lately, I'm shooting an HK45, and although I hate polymer handguns, I love the HK45. My favorite knife is the custom I commissioned from DDR. It will be a 4 inch bladed Gunhammer in an RC2 blade profile of stone washed m390. Handles will be beadblasted titanium. I'm probably 18 months+ into the wait, and I don't even know if Darrel started work on it yet.

I do recognize that reference, although I think that it's bordering on being before my time.

Strength coach, eh? My father-in-law is a high altitude Olympic weight trainer. His program is vastly different from any others that I've seen. Do you work with martial artists much, Hark?

Have not yet had the privilege to work with martial artists. Personally, martial arts is something I've always wanted to get into, and my friends often refer to me as Bruce Lee with a shaved head, because I have similar body shape as the late master. And speaking of Olympic weight lifting, I'm looking forward to seeing that on TV at the London games. Buddy of mine is actually over there covering the whole thing.

^And we're still trying to get this guy to become a mod of a subforum inside DDR/HTM just for DDR/HTM butterfly knives. Guess it's time to shoot Spark another email.

This is a great thread idea.

The name's Gabriel. I'm a game designer, software engineer and digital artist by day, and a dating coach and martial arts instructor by night. I like reasoned debate, dinner with friends, outdoor activities, travel (just got back from a vacation in England), and not taking life too seriously.

My top two favourite knives are my personally-design Saif framelocked Persian, and the Darrel Ralph AXD. I don't own an AXD yet, but soon!

Love this thread!

I am a big nerd when it comes to psychology and love to discuss the mind. I'm also extremely proud of my Irish heritage, I studied Irish history in Galway Ireland in 2009 and am excited by all things Irish. Some of my other passions include Hiking, camping, outdoor activities, Coffee, History, Guns, Knives, and Spanish to name a few.

My favorite knife is the DDR AXD, which, come fall I should finally have in my hand. 4" with mammoth inlay!

Also Hark, Totally got your reference. Does that mean we're old? haha.

Wait, Bleeding Edge, you are a dating coach? Oh do tell.

Indeed. I help people who have difficulties with approaching, talking to, attracting, and/or maintaining successful relationships with people of their chosen sex. I help men and women, gay, straight and bi. It's a great side job, and very rewarding.

I don't want to go too far off topic here, so send me a PM if you want to know more. :D
